Not allowed on lmp2 cars in the rules. Maybe Hpd will just focus on a 2014 car?

In my opinion, no HPD coupe in next year.
They don´t have a strong team to do the work, Strakka is a decent team but...they are strugling to folow Rebellion. The Muscle Milk team should go to LMP2 next year so, no LMP1 HPD in America too. |

Well , look where Rebellion came from . There was rumor of them running a 2nd chassis , but that ended up in some single seater series .
I think they could do a good job , but obviously would have to up their game . Levintus , wouldn't be a good choice but he does fork out the wedge . They could run a P2 car for him |

There are strong teams out there - the question is do HPD want to pay for one?

It will be interesting to see what Honda are up to, with talk of them supplying engines to one of the teams in the WEC feeder series in 2015 do they have the resouces to put large sums of money into a WEC car

Hpd will have to run a coupe or hope for their car to be grandfathered. Or just leave teams in lmp1 searching for someone else to supply a chassis.

Honda is back in F1, and now!!!! where does that lead Endurance (LMP1)!! HONDA "made significant progress with its all-new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6 Formula 1 engine, working out of its R&D facility in Tochigi, Japan." Is possible to adapte this engine to endurance races, will they do it???? Could they test the engine in 2014 with HPD to development for F1??? |

I wonder if Honda could do this to leapfrog the engine development rules in F1. |

Would be great to see some kind of semi-works squad and a load of Japanese technicians campaigning the new engine next year.
I don't know enough about the differences in spec to know how much of a benefit that would actually be versus just putting it on the dyno. Might just be wishful thinking. |

Depends what efficiency they could get out of an engine tuned to burn through 150kg of fuel in 200 miles.

How far do you have to go back for the last pukka factory Honda entry at Le Mans (that wasn't in MotoGP)?
Mid-nineties GT stuff? |

Sure they do. The NSX was there quite a bit. Honda engines have powered plenty of lmp2 cars. SuperGT is basically GTs that are a mix of prototype and between lmp2 and lmp1 speed. On top of it they do 1000km races at Suzuka, and 500km at Fuji. So theres endurance as well. Not to mention the HSV engine is close if not the same as the one in the lmp1 hpd's.

I said they do endurance style races in SuperGT. Thats what LeMans is, an endurance race. Not saying they have LM pedigree because SuperGT. Currently in lmp2 lmp1 past races with the NSX, that counts, right?

EDIT: Peugeot were very, very good at endurance racing but they only cracked Le Mans once and were unlucky to only do so once. If Le Mans isn't easy, and that's the point. Last edited by Gingers4Justice; 17 May 2013 at 09:17. |
