Well you could have (all on topic)
Favourite Super Touring colour schemes
Which Drivers were involved in Super Touring , where are they now?
Where are the Super Tourers, who still owns one?
Outside of Super Touring , what other series have the cars contested?
There is enough there for another 4000-5000 posts. That should take us upto to 2010.

David, Group N was created in 1981 and immediately admitted to the 5th category bcause it was an accurate recreation of Australian Touring Car racing prior to 1965.

But how many of the current cars racing in Group N were racing in the era they are meant to represent??

GTR, I would estimate less than 10%. However, many of the earlier categories also have cars built "in the style" of cars of the era.

WooHoo... this thread is still alive....

Since this seems to be the all-encompassing home for matters SuperTouring... how about This for Mr Crompton's running in the 1997 NATCC....

His trademark hot-lap is in play... complete with communicating what the car is doing... a pity they ran out of dollars to do the entire season that year

Are Super Tourers (and Group A cars for that matter) eligible for the AASA Australian Touring Car Championship this year?

Just the other day I watched the 1998 season highlights Video BTCC, fantastic racing.
Also watched 03 - 06 DTM season highlights and was OK but not a patch on the BTCC stuff.

Not wanting to seem pedantic, but it's actually called the Touring Car Challenge. I too would like to know if the ST cars will be running in this series this year. I'd also like to know where they can run at a CAMS event. Is Sports Sedan the only class that will take them?

Hasn't the AASA Australian Touring Car Championship effectively taken its place, in the initial press release for the AMRC it mentioned the V8Giants (presumebly including the V8Supercars that have run in the touring car challenge as they are eligible for the V8Giants) as competing for the title, and no further mention of the touring car challenge in it.

The term "Australian Touring Car Championship" is trademarked and it isn't owned by AASA or any of their members, so they can't use it.

btw CAMS are not the only ones who have attempted to register the name.

Reasons why this failed. No one can own the words Australain Touring Car Championship. CAMS can own CAMS Australian Touring Car Championship however..

I have fond and frustrating memories of this season, I had leased the ex Magill, ex BTCC Primera for the Oran Park round (Natsoft has me listed as driver TBA) and practiced quite well in one of those ever increasing (in regularity) diminishing (in numbers) fields only to have the engine spin a bearing and be parked for the weekend before qualifying. I must say the change from a rear wheel drive, left hand drive, H pattern synchro box that I was used to, to a front wheel drive, right hand drive sequential dog box that I had to fold myself in half to get in was a challenge. I loved it and would love to do it again. I miss the Supertourer days.
