It is doing exceptionaly well considering the number of series F2, GP3, Spanish,Italian,German F3 etc that are all attempting to attract drivers. These series did not exist in the past therefore bigger grids . |

Don't think it's been officially confirmed before, but Jazeman Jaafar is the fifth Carlin driver.
It's taken a while but the organisers have finally woken up and decided to give the National Class a push. If you do F3 to learn, you can learn all you need right there. http://www.formula3.co/news/a-grand-...tish-formula-3 |

The problem with F3 budgets is that most of the team bosses and managers are not business men. They are in "Business" but they have come to business through a tool box or an engineers setup sheet. Most have little clue on really running a business, they charge what they can get away with. The rumoured cash / brown envelope culture only feeds a select few in the team but its a great incentive to run a team and bumble along year in year out.
The comments about the dad seeing the nice cars outside the factory would be valid if the cars, trucks and salaries were all 100% paid up every year and that also goes for the loan payments, suppliers bills and the tax's! No one pays 650k for an F3 budget without expecting to get 650K of service. Likewise bolters, engineers, and the teams suppliers expect to get 100% agreed pay for work they do.Carlin's Chilton new factory opening was very impressive but how many creditors of the original Carlin setup would still like to have monies owed rather than the lingering smell of BS in Farnham rather than Aldershot. Chilton's involvement may at last be bringing a pro business footing to F3 and motor sport. Carlin, Fortec and SRO are only a part of the F3 'body' and the rest is still pretty poorly and that has not been greatly helped by the afore mentioned three. There are still F3 team staff and suppliers awaiting payment from last season and January this year but some are still seeing British F3 through rose tinted specs. |

I do not think you should itemise F3 alone....this is something that has been ongoing for many years...I am still owed £170,000 since 1999 by an Australian who did not pay all of the price for my F3000 team , I won the court case but he folded the company the day before. I agree that most teams are run by people who have a passion for racing and run the teams with their hearts and not their pockets. However how many drivers still owe teams and will never pay ???????????

European Aviation ........... European Edenbridge ........... edenrace = now that is spooky According to a F++++c source, Nissan engine deal may have gone with T-sport and Double R has been sold to Malasia or Indonesian interests and has no drivers. |

Driver "signed" only a done deal when the season's first payment is in a teams UK Bank account.
I'd wager that Shiraishi is a B class driver, can the team run with one driver? Will a sale of Double R go ahead without a decent brace of A1 drivers? Rumour's have also been circulating that a 2011 driver very disillusioned with his former team was going to or had signed with Double R, but questions remain over full 2012 funding. I'll believe that it's 2012 game on in Woking when it pops up on the very quiet Double R website, twitter feed or Autosport. |

I wouldn't put any faith solely in driver and driver management announcements, the team has not announced anything and they are the ones that count. If he's doing Double R for 2012, still doesn't answer their viability. |

Don't tell me "RR" refused Japanese mob money or something like that. Except without the sarcasm.

Félix Juan Serrallés has announced on Facebook that he is headed for Fortec tomorrow (today) for a seat fitting in his new car.
Coincidentally, William Buller has been GP3 testing. It wouldn't do to have him a competitive F3 car, would it? Expect another announcement in this week's Autosport. |

How very true Strider.
The teams in GP3 are contracted to race in the series and therefore have to sell drives for much less than they cost as they have to pay anyway. In the case of Buller this is very much the case, he wants to do F3 but GP3 budget offered to get him out of F3 where he has a very good chance of being the potential champion is probably less than half the price of F3. |

Maybe Strider or Edenrace can answer this.
Does the F3 champion still qualify for an F1 'super license'? Does the GP3 Champion? Thanks |

Is that right? I'm amazed. I knew the British F3 champion did, but in view of all the fuss and attention given to GP3 I thought that its champion would as well. It just goes to show.

Buller heading up a F3 team such as Double R could have been a smart move for Buller and the team. He should get a better car and support than Fortec and a good chance of winning races.
GP3 seat is likely to leave him mid - lower end of grid and at the mercy of team games. |

@Edenrace. Thank you
@Catman over the last few seasons I'd say that Fortec have had a better car than Double R, not that I am suggesting that Double R do not produce a good car. |

It just ges to show that FIA is desperately trying to support F3 (and F2 for that matter), nothing more. Still it does not work and that in my mind goes to show.
One more thing: how can Buller go from potentially winner in BF3 to mid-lowfielder in GP3 given that his two years in Euro F. BMW mean he knows the tracks? Is that a credit to the level of GP3? |
