I know very well that it's just a re-hash of the old livery but that is certainly no bad thing, in the same way that I loved the orange McLaren testing livery a few years back & now we have the return of the Silver Arrows as well. It gives the liveries a bit of class & reminds us a bit of the heritaage of some of the teams. I mean, look at the positive reactions to Ferrari's just reverting to a slightly darker shade of red. It's still red but now it's Ferrari Red with a sprinkling of added heritage...and it reminds us of a prettier F1 when the look of the thing livery wise was as important as your sponsors say so. And with the Renault I live how well Kubica's new yellow helmet completes the look...although I too would prefer black wings rather than the red...but we can't have everything!

You can definitely see the narrower front tires in that head on shot of the Renault.

It just looks more like a Jordan scheme than either the old Renault scheme (that also had a fair amount of white in it didn't it?) or the Minardi (which was a very different yellow). The "Total" sponsorship just adds to the Jordanness of it.

Yeh it's reminding me of the 1997 one.

Is it just me or is there some sort of vertical fin in the Mercedes' air-box?

He means inside the airbox, not on it. It's the new Mercedes rollover bar - hence why there's a horizontal hole right behind the airbox for towing instead of using a hoop

On the Merc, I thought the engine exhausts had to be flush with the bodywork and not protrude in any way? Anyone know if they changed the regs on this or are we hours away from an official protest by somebody?

Happy new year folks!
From a McLaren supporter, I was just a touch disappointed not to see a change in livery for 2010. Although Mercedes remains as the engine supplier and partner, it would have been great to see something different - as it turns out Renault are going retro, I would absolutely love to see a bright Orange McLaren, but how would you apply RED Vodafone colours to that. *spew* the merc looks great, has Schu still got it? |

They (merc exhausts) would be illegal at a race weekend but Ferrari did the same thing in testing last year.

The tightly packed rear bodywork of the McLaren with the exhaust exiting out the side is my favorite element of any of the new cars so far. |

I remember Ferrari having the protruding exhausts, and the rest of the field ****ing and moaning about it and viola, changed by Melbourne. I'll assume the same will happen this year with the Merc. I actually didn't like McLaren's side mounted exhausts. I'm wondering how much the rear tire changers will appreciate having that blast furnace in their face during tire changes. At least its only about 4 seconds.

When is the new Force India going to be released to the public? I had expected their new car to appear before the Toro Rosso, but now, it's been vice versa.

It does look very good.
I think it's going to be one of those cars that is either going to be very good, or very bad. |

In terms of drivers, Parente seems to be missing though... I wonder what is going on there.

Indeed, just LdG, Glock and Razia there. Might be worth keeping an eye on

Rumours say Parente couldn't reach an agreement with his sponsor, the portugese tourism agency. He hasn't signed a GP2 contract aswell and the only top spot at Racing Engineering seems to go to Dani Clos.
