I am sorry. The abruzzi couldn't get homologated or approved by tech soon enough to qualify?
Well then run it like war machine and go unrestricted and clobber the coming competition, it will make some news. |

This is a great idea. What are the chances this will happen? Or does it have to comply with rules to race, but results will be unclassified?

In practice the car managed a 2:05. Maybe it is running unrestricted....
Sarcasm face is this guy talking about how nice the Abruzzi looks, and channels the GT1 accurately. |

I saw it a le amns last year and I think it looked great, we need cars that inspire and the panoz seems to generate feelings so lets hope that we all get a chance to see it race

To me the Abruzzi looks like someone took those long squiggly baloons and wrapped them together to come up with a car shape, stuck the name Panoz on the side and called it a race car. Although, I do wish them all the luck in the world as they are always a fun car to listen to.

2:05 is better than the challenge cars, and really what more can we ask for out of this car at this time.

The car is butt-crack ugly. There is no doubt, at least amongst the people I talked to at the track.

Feature on the ALMS site. Entitled 'Smooth sailing for maiden Abruzzi voyage'. I'd hardly call being forced to run unclassified as smooth sailing - not that the article mentions that at all.
They also say the car has had zero-testing prior to the race, which I can believe despite us being told otherwise. What have they actually been doing since Petit? http://americanlemans.com/primary1.php?cat=news|15618 |

18 laps before they pulled it out and stuck it behind the wall, I'm actually kinda surprised it went that long.

Paddle shift problems caused the car to go behind the wall...my guess is that the retirement - after another attempt to race - was related to that.
