Oké, since a lot of us are not attending this year (and I understand that) I didn't want to make a separate post. Just wanted to share, the weather is looking good so far let's hope it stays that way, looks like the best weather in years. There will be no non sun.

Some quite significant on-track activity. Hope we get a week full of good future news alongside the racing. |

There has been a single camera view at Dunlop (see the Test Day thread) but that's off now.

Quite surprising to see the Alpine in the back to Glickenhaus, but really nice to see ACO acknowledging the commitment of Glickenhaus over the "cheap" Alpine operation.

I really miss the posters being a piece of art, rather than a corporate photoshop job (and a pretty lazy one at that).
Honestly, if they just ran a fan competition they'd get something much better for free. |

As G4J says, kids in their bedrooms produce work LEVELS above this just for their social media accounts. There are so many designers out there - easy to find online and inexpensive. There is zero excuse for this in 2021. |

There has been a gradual degrading to the current bland level over the years. As some of you might know, I collect Le Mans tickets and currently have well over 200. Some of those mirror the posters of the year, many with great photos and illustrations, particularly through the 80's and early 90s but the rot set in from about 1995 when clearly the ACO dispensed with any attempt at decent design effort.

So which year's poster would you say was your favourite?

For me : 1959, 1961, 1980
This year, the poster is very poor, cheap. Yet, ACO was organizing a poster competition, with talented graphist designers... https://endurance24.fr/galerie-24-il...4-heures-mans/ |

Difficult to say as I'm not familiar with them all, but you can see many of the early ones here -
https://www.pinterest.co.uk/drivelif...ver-the-years/ Personally, I really like 81-83. |

It's never been easier to convey something like Le Mans to a wider audience, and yet still it's an event you kind of have to just 'come across' to get into, in the complete absence of the ACO making any effort to communicate to our friends that this obsession of ours isn't based on nothing... |

French prime minister announces actually the return of gauges at 5000 peoples for outside events.
The decision to postpone LM must be taken in the middle of winter (last year, at the beginning of march). However, the health situation has no chance of improving by then... And last year, crowd gauges remained in effect until early summer. So, i think this year again, LM will not take place in June |

I've decided that this year I will go through any testing, documentation or admin hoops that are required to travel to events, on one condition: unfettered access to the circuit. Villages, off-limits areas and access restrictions mean I'll give it a miss.

Slightly off topic, I'm booked for the Bicester Scramble in January and I've got to use the passport and have a negative test before going.
Will the (French) government restrictions apply to Le Mans in June? I have no idea but I sincerely hope not. I still have my booking with Travel Destinations. Haven't bothered with any grandstand tickets. |
