From what I saw, this is the first year here without Wolfgang Ullrich, maybe this has anything to do, for good and both for bad, both before and to the results of the race, maybe they could foresee that results after the bop test.

If the rival was the BMWZ4 the difference between laptimes wasn't so different, and they where candidates to win during most race (Unless last year the BoP was against Maxime Martin & co, and favourable to Audi). When considering BoP configuration, also it's important how it suits to a SLS and a Porsche, this must have anything to do considering last year there wasn't such PRO entries of that cars, that "could" be a reason, it's only a thought tough. |

Some of the fastest times were driven at the end of the race, so I don't know I you can compare Audi with BMW because Marc VDS didn't run till the end and failed early.
But even guys like Lotterer, Ekström, Fässler, Stippler weren't able to go fast. I don't think it's because of better competition. |

2x mine Epic Fail.
At the end of the Race there is more rubber on track so laptimes are better. The BMW giving those time are less performant than MVDs. Missed most part of the race, even beeing the 24h race I like more. Don't like this BoP, as don't like too a third audi victory which also is overwhelming on the other minor SRO series, but remember who is Ruling also the wec, Ingolstadt "rules the world".... ..perhaps I'm missing something, but, if BOP worked, we'd still have competitive Morgan, Venturi and Ford cars?

I suppose they're outdated in terms of handling, reliability and probably electronics too, but recently ford has won a race in ADAC GT Masters, less than two months ago. |

Some good analysis from Trussers. Schneider and Pilet were the fastest drivers in each of their cars, but overall the Mercedes-Benz was faster on the average of its 3 drivers. |

I still maintain that Buhk was the best driver of the race. He did double stints when HTP double stinted the tires and he maintained impressive pace on the second stint. As far as I know, Schneider didn't double stint tire.
Nevertheless, that article confused me a bit. Watching the race and live timing, it showed that Gotz did the first 3 stints for HTP, Buhk the next 3, and Schneider didn't get into the car until it was getting dark and the stream coverage went off air, yet Trusser writes that Schneider's longest stint was 6:56 pm to 9:05 pm. What? Also, Gotz was in the car for the first two hours and a half hours at least, then Buhk had a triple stint, both much longer than the longest stints indicated by Trussers. Was the live timing that much off? |

Only just having watched the ´overtaking under yellow´ move from one of the Manthey boys that was rewarded with a penalty which basically robbed the race - which was great until that point - from a potential nail biting finish.
Technically it wasn´t even passing under yellow, the safety car had already pulled off (at marshals post 18 which is in the middle of Pouhon, the corner before the short straight leading towards Fagnes/Pif-Paf where the overtaking move was executed) and at marshals post 20 the green flag was waved vigorously. A very harsh penalty imo, it must have been the first ´passing under green´ that was penalized... Time therefor to adjust the SC procedure: as soon as the green flag is ordered by the race director, the racing should resume and passing from that moment on should be allowed - anywhere on track. No need anymore to cross a white line - not even the start/finish line, green = green! |

Yeah, but Gotz confirmed in an interview that he started the race with a triple stint (though the first was short because of pitting under the safety car, but it would still have been over two hours...). That still contradicts Trusser's data, even if they were showing the wrong man in the car by live timing.

Hi guys - away on vacation at the moment... enjoying a tropical thunderstorm and have just discovered this discussion. Of course, my problem was that not being at Spa, much of my blog post was pieced together from the available information.
But my records suggest Gotz did first 30 laps, then 24 from Buhk, and Schneider in the car from lap 52 on. Trouble is that the timekeeping system was not always correct... |
