fangio should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I don't know where the figure of 20 DBR9's sold comes from, it certainly is not correct.
GT1 will survive I am sure, the doubts are about GT2. The Porches are really at the end of their life-cycle, so for now only the Ferrari 430 and the Spykers have a future.
I think with the current cost, the GT2 cars should be allowed larger restrictors to bring them closer to the GT1's and then introduce the GT3 cars for ACO-reg series like the LMES etc.
The future is in GT3, lower cost, same speed or better than GT2.

GT3's are super slow, no quicker than a WTCC car.

I'd like the see GT2 become GT1, but with much bigger restrictors and less weight.

Wouldn't it be more sensible to have a lower spec C6 in GT2 with 600bhp?

Lets face it, who would 'Super' GT2 rule out, Maserati and Saleen?

Not exactly in the spirit of GT racing are they.

Current GT1s are capable of going 5 seconds a lap quicker than they are allowed, so just up the spec of GT2 and save a hell of a lot of cash.

Nope, DBR9, I read something about that the planning was to have 24 cars being produced by Prodrive / Care Racing and that they had offers for all of them already? Might be mistaken, in wich case I apoligize.

I wouldn't doubt about GT2. 2006 will be a transition year for Porsche to the 997 GT3-R. Ferrari will have the F430, Spyker the C8, Panoz the Esperante. Fair enough to fill a good grid imho.

With the future of all GT classes in question here - any kinda news about the new Marcos? I keep forgetting it's name but I think it had "GT2" in it...? Would be great to see that involved.

For the spectacle alone I'd love to see GT1 survive - anymore word on '06 LMES GT1 entries...?

That was the case this year JAG yes, but next year the class will see new and faster cars coming into the class. Cars like the DB9 for example which recently led the Paul Ricard test for the new GT3 championship. The GT3 cars may not be much faster than the WTCC cars I admit but I would be suprised if they are less than 2-3 seconds a lap faster in 2006. The current breed of GT3 cars will have somewhere in the region of 400-410bhp, WTCC cars in comparissan have around 280-300bhp.

You mean the TSO-GT2 (or TSO-GT). I hope Cor Euser, Eurotech and/or Herman Buurman will build a racing version (GT2 class).

BTW Why do they sell the TSO-GT only in Australia?

that's the car, fire! 'tis very nice indeed, and would be a welcome addition to the GT2 and/or GT3 class. Can't think why it's sold only in Australia, though...?

Nope, I've seen this number talked about too, in many places. I think the original source was a Frederic Dor quote, which I would consider perfectly trustworthy indeed.

A lot of these cars are in the hands of collectors, so their whereabouts are not widely known. We know that there are 2 (3?) works cars, the Cirtek car, Diniz's car, 1 Austrian car, 1 BMS car, and possibly the Danish car in people's possession right now. At least 1 more car for Austria, Cirtek and BMS in the pipeline. That makes about 10 active chassis, so I have no problem believing another 10 are on preorder or in private hands already.

Just noticed there are 2004 and 2005 LMES DVD season reviews available on the official website.

A step in the right direction, and if I'm not mistaken the first season review since the '89 FIA World Sportscar Championship (maybe there was one BPR season review?)

I think there was a FIA World GT 1996 review. I saw a second hand copy but neglected to buy it, and now it's gone.

Does that count.

DSC are reporting that Pierre Bruneau is switching to Judd power (3.4V8) for 2006 in an attempt to address the reliability issues experienced in 2005. It'll be interesting to see how well the Pilbeam goes next term.

I wonder if its that Bio fuel mob with Ian Dawson ! There was something about their Lola B2K/10 being retired after Sebring and something about a "new" chassis ?

The B2K/10 is to undergo hybridisation. No point if they are only doing Sebring then retiring it. They could do Sebring without it being a hybrid. Far more likely to refer to Chamberlain I would have thought?

Given that Chamberlain have already managed to sell their LMP2 Lola I'd be almost surprised if it wasn't them.

That said, I saw the RML car was also up for sale - in the event it shifts what price them going down the LMP1 Lola route?

Sam Smith did say back in November that he anticipated at least two B06/10's on each side of the Atlantic by the start of the 2006 season........

It was on a Japanese web site (www.lmchallenge.jp) which apparently listed a whole array of cars for sale for possible participation in the Japanese Le Mans Challenge (originally linked to from a site I'm hoping you're at least more than vaguely familiar with!) and was unambiguously a B05/40 - didn't know they had two of them though. My non-existent grasp of Japanese does hamper precise deciphering of the page.

From what I could tell of that website, the car pictured did not always correspond to an individual chassis that was on sale. Often it seemed to be the type of chassis which was eligible and known to be for sale from some party.
