Hey, Jean Alesi has been named ambassador of the Lotus Renault F1 team and T125 test driver. Could this mean that he left Ferrari and will do the ILMC in a Lotus Evora Gt2?

I had noticed that absence, and now it makes sense. Seems foolish though; why would you leave Ferrari for an upstart wannabe that most industry pundits predict will be a flop in half a decade?

Looks like the 2 Evoras will sit out Sebring.
I wonder if that will hurt them when it comes to getting both cars into Le Mans... |

Fisi certainly ended 2010 with a bang, throwing away a comfortable victory at Vallelunga in the last hour.

Panoz Abruzzi for Atlas eFX-Team off...
update from Planetlemans: "Atlas eFX Team FS issued a press release today in which they say that “due to different financial ideas” the plans to run a Panoz this year are off. The release continues with the announcement that “other projects are not affected by this decision” and that the team is “currently continuing to participate in the GTE and LMP1″. It remains unclear which cars this would be." http://www.planetlemans.com/2010/12/...am-fs-in-2011/ |

Possible, although they should do Spa then. P.S. Since the Evoras are run by Jetalliance, will we see the chandelier back in the garage like back in 2009?

Travel Tips for Spa
I am considering going to Spa for the ILMC in May. Any suggestions for hotels, travel to track, etc.

By car it's readily accessible, there's generally plenty of parking, and while hotels in walking distance are at a bit of a premium, Liege is pretty close by with a wealth of hotels, an (admittedly very small) international airport, and well connected to the very efficient Belgian rail system. The downside is that getting to Spa by public transport can be a bit of handful, or, more to the point, the last bus back to Liege on a Sunday can often be before the end of the race. Best bet (from Austin) would be to get the best flight you can get to Europe (Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris are pretty reasonable options), rent a car, and base yourself out of Liege. |

Since you live in Austin fjn356 I'd say you catch a flight to Brussels (probably you need a stopover in NY/Washington/Houston/Dallas/...) or straight to Paris (I guess that connection exists). Belgian national airliner is Brussels Airlines so maybe you can check that one. Usually their prices are not cheap but still affordable . |

American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Jet Airways approaching Brussels Airport - but I beleave not daily. The big airports of Paris and Frankfurt/Main are intercontinental flight hubs, also the Amsterdam Airport Schiphol... |

Should give you hours of fun, working permutations! I shall be there, camping on circuit. No doubt with a large camp fire to keep the chill out, again! |

i'm going to spa as well, for the 4th time and i always stay on the parking place near eau rouge. It's not the best option if you like comfort etc. but it's a really nice place to stay.

That probably the same parking we stayed on last year Mark. It's a bit ...uuhhmm..basic. But close to the track, and enough wood around for a campfire.
