The one at 1am ish? Nope, I'd just gone off duty at that point, and was actually watching from the Brooklands flag point when that happened. |

Did my 1st Britcar 24 in 2008 and loved the experience, the weekend, the racing, the atmosphere and the camaraderie. This year was all that in equal measure. Fantastic.
Had a different angle on it this time, doing Rescue duties, helping out with the BRSCC Mids and Silverstone crews. My thanks goes to all of them for looking after me. Their knowledge of the circuit and how things work locally was priceless. Was great to bump into James Tucker on Friday night whilst having a beer and a social wander in the paddock with the NW Marshaling gang. He was really chatty and spent an absolute age chatting with us about the event, past, present and future. If he wants Marshals, they will follow him everywhere to be honest, top man indeed. So, thankyou to everyone I bumped into, chatted with, waved at, the security blokes on gates who were always polite and of course the organisers and drivers for giving us an awesome weekend. 2011 .... you bet!!! |

from what was an amazing weekend, one thing that impressed me was the penalties handed out.
quite a few times when car recovery was taking place, the odd racing car either spun or got a bit close to the Marshals. within a few minutes penalties were being implemented. If the excitement of an amazing race was measured in rain, i think we had our fair share |

Can't wait for it too. Did the Minis in 2008 in the dark at Donington and loved it. Apart from dodging fireworks reigning down on us at Starkeys. |

I believe the consensus in the pit lane is that there should have been less 1 lap penalties, and more stop-go penalties
Quite entertaining too, when one car served its stop-go penalty on its own. R/C (who I'm sure were overworked and had many plates to juggle, so this is not a complaint at all, it's just what happened) had failed to inform us that it was going to happen. |

Must say that everyone did a sterling job with that. Was a straight forward job but could have been potentially worse, thumbs up to the oncoming drivers for heeding our hand signals. . Those Marshals opposite us on Stowe did a fantastic job all weekend and it must have been frustrating for them to see him coast to the opposite side of the track where they couldn't recover him. Was glad we could do our bit for them too. That fry-up/mixed-up-fry-up was a good idea at that point in the day. My stomach says thanks. Quote:

Great weekend at Stowe. Many thanks to my fellow Flag / Observer Paul Newns, and to IO Emma and her gallant crew.
Thanks also to the rescue crew on the inside for tidying up the one who decided to spin and leave himself on the track facing WD. Very neatly done, I was getting worried because every time he tried to restart it his lights all went out and he basically disappeared! Cheers to all - see you next year. |

That was a scary one really. Like you said, it was just blackness each time his lights went off, so a whole load of credit has to go to the oncoming drivers too for being on the ball. reducing their speed and passing by at a safe distance from us . Being Marshals, one and all, we did it as safely and quickly as possible. |

You did, if you were pit wall flags. I was the smoker in the crew, and came down to help you with the SC board in the support races, only to find that Tom had beaten me to it.

Despite all the accidents and snatches we did - for me this was the most challenging because of where he was. As far as I know we only needed the S/C after we got him off becuase we couldn't restart him (god that engine's got some compression!) and we needed to get Daisy across the track to give him a helping hand. |

This was my first 24 hour event and what a fantastic weekend it was too! Thanks to all the guys on Copse, it was great working with you all and had a great laugh but when we had things come in we all worked great as a team especially in the wet and dark! Hope to see you guys again soon.

Hi all This is stright from Britcar, Copied from original post on pistonheads
I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of all the staff at Britcar to extend our thanks and gratitude to all the marshals who gave up their hard earned free time last week to look after all the teams and drivers taking part in the 2010 Britcar 24hrs. I know its often said and it can sound a little hollow after a while but none of it would be possible without your dedication and enthusiasm. This year we had an unprecedented number of marshals volunteer for the event and the level of commitment you all showed in atrocious conditions was second to none. We look forward to welcoming you back to the event in the years to come and we will try to order some sunshine for next year... |

always good to see folk bothering to post thank you messages!
seems a tad strange to me that they see PH as the primary contact point for marshals though, don't they know that we hide over here? |

Britcar has its own thread on PH, been there for years, I used to read it alot in the early days as there were some great discussions on there about the regs!
Its still nice to get a chuck up though! |

It was also posted in this thread over on the 10/10s Sportscar & GT forum. Don't you know that the primary contact point for GT & Sportscar folks is... ach, never mind
