aneesh99 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Whatever the deal was with Ishiura, it wasn't anything to do with his back imo, didn't he win the SGT race the weekend after at Fuji anyway?

Strakka have a season racing with Honda , and Kane and Watts are top drivers .

Dalziel is quick , but no Kane or Watts .

Livery looks better on Starworks though .

And we are not talking about laps, but we are talking about 30 hours tests, and a 24 hour race, were one driver should be behind the steering wheel for 6-8 hours. It makes a lot of differences, and in my opinion, their explanation is 100% acceptable.
Apparently only F1 and LMP drivers have the necessary level of fitness and stamina to withstand the continual G loads.

Because of Nick. He's a rapid rapid guy but he's not a pro. I dunno, like I said, I'm not impartial

Back onto the topic at hand, how many Toyota's are we expecting at test day?

He won Fuji the week before. I'm not sure if he couldn't take the G-Forces is the sole reason. SGT's are as fast as LMP2s. And they weigh 200kg more. It's not the horsepower making them that fast. I think he must not have been on pace and maybe there's some truth to his back problems. I wonder if Nakajima will be on pace.

He's funding the team, but his appearance in the car is a requisite under LMP2 driver rules. Strakka is in LMP1 now, driver rules and the driver situation are both different.

How fast could this car go on electric power alone? Could they havea backup in case they run out of fuel for some odd reason.

the point6 doesn't coinvince a lot, usually lmp1 cars need just a light braking to enter in porsche sector

I gather that in between these 4 hybrids, there'll be so much high speed braking and accelerating during the mellée in this hectic 24hr race that I think the ACO officials won't be able to keep track of it all...

Paul Truswell wrote down thoughts about the WEC in general, and Audi and Toyota in particular, on his blog.

He questions why Toyota planned such a minimal program in 2012:
Quote:
More than knowing the answers to those Audi questions, I would like to know the answers to some Toyota questions. Why only plan to have one car for the season? As someone pointed out last year - Toyota would be putting themselves at a disadvantage immediately by compromising the amount of data that it is possible to gather from the races they do compete in.

I have not been in the TMG facility at Cologne, but surely it must have the potential to work at a more productive rate than has so far been evidenced? The incremental costs of approaching the season in a more committed fashion are not that great, compared to the overall outlay of competing in the first place. There would seem, to my mind, to be a serious risk that they don’t even get two cars to the start line at Le Mans. In some ways, it must be an indication of just how expensive it is to compete at the highest level these days, if the incremental cost of “doing it properly” becomes prohibitive.

I think these questions have been answered already.

Toyota's plan was to stay in the shadow of the Audi vs. Peugeot duel this year and that would have worked, they could have tested under racing conditions and prepare for a full-on assault in 2013.

Of course one car gives you less data than two but racing one car gives you more data than testing one car. They simply never planned to be in the spotlight this early, a situation that was caused by Peugeot's exit.

And as far as TMG goes, of course they`re capable of doing more but again, the current situation just wasn't the plan in January. All of a sudden they needed more carbon fibre, more staff etc. so the hiccups are understandable.

I think his conclusion that this is some sort of cost issue is off, this is just a question of how quickly a programme that was planned to be a much smaller scale can be escalated.

Yes, the fact that they did not intend to be in the spotlight this year, is well documented. However, I think that Paul has a point when he questions why they planned to only run a single car.

Even if they wanted to do a limited number of WEC rounds (Spa, Le Mans, Fuji), the additional cost of running a second car is not that big. You would expect that the benefit of having more data would outweigh the cost. Assume that their sole car has to retire because of an accident early in the race, then they have limited data to compare their performance against the competition.

I always thought after accident damage of chassis 1 in test and no Spa that we expected only one car for test.

So, we will see what really will happen.
