Audi has a car with more downforce....So they make their speed in the corners....The problem is they keep getting balked in the corners by GT cars...Peugeot makes it speed in the straights....they don't get balked in the straights. So Audis advantage is neutralized....They can't go fast in the corners because of traffic and the downforce slows them in the straights. |

Thats just a pretty dumb statement, the Peugeots have got better traction out of the corners so get the power down better than the Audis, thats why they're pulling away on the straights not getting balked by GTs....

Well it is not like the Audi engineers didn't know that the ILMC would mean racing with lots of traffic on tight circuits. So if the car really suffers heavily from traffic it is is kind of a design flaw, isn't it?

Whats going on bemuses me because Fassler was right on the pace in the opening stint.... Other than that everyone has just been off the pace. Do you think its some kind of mental block because of the accidents at Lemans? |

They seem to have better traction out of corners (not talking TCS...) than the Audis which does help them punch out of corners and get hammering down the straights faster. They're also trimmed out more than the Audis which contributes to the straight line speed.

Of course it didn't, the same amount of cars is spread out to 13 kilometers there with massive straights where you can easily pass... and traffic eases up during the race as well.
That's what I meant by their car is more suited to Le Mans, not specifically in terms of top speed/downforce but it has been the only track where their car has fully worked so far. |

If i remember at Spa they said the Audi struggled with oversteer on double stinted tires....Oversteer would have been caused by worn rear tires compared to the fronts......They might combat this with a setup change or use a more aggressive traction control setting. So maybe they are using a more aggressive traction control than Peugeot......Also it could have something to do with gear ratios....As well as turbo lag( despite the VGT) of a single turbo compared to twin turbo's on the Peugeot..... |

Yeah could be any one of those factors but I'm going off what I'm watching and what I'm seeing is a Peugeot look settled firing out of corners unlike the Audis which don't look the happiest here.

Aaah. The peugeot works best in the extremely hot track conditions..i remember from Lemans....They struggled at night....But gained a bit of speed in the hot conditions....

Anybody who thought this battle would get any less intense after Le Mans might want to think again...
Seriously though, that's not Tom K's usual style... odd move. |

Seems like the exact reverse of Lemans......Bot cars put in come cracking laps but only the Audi was able to sustain at Lemans......
Here at Imola the Audi ran a 1.33.3 but the peugeots are the ones that are able to sustain the pace. |

Peugeot excelled on soft tyres during the night in Le Mans. However, during the day the drivers could not keep the medium tyres "switched" on. Davidson explained this clearly on Radio Le Mans before the start of the race.
