Johntt, I understand the LMPC thing possibly expanding/morphing into the new, 2011 LMP2 class. It is just that the engines in that class will be allowed to be noticeably larger than those in the 2011 LMPs, as far as I'm aware anyway. Is it clear just what all the maximum allowed displacements for 2011 are going to be as of yet?
MS, that street circuit is in Salvador; the plan is to design a new one in Ribeirao Preto. I think the most likely back-up is the permanent circuit at Brasilia. Also, at last report, the IndyCar Series and its participants will be getting a $20 million payout, which includes a $6-7 million sanction fee. BTW, what exactly is all this recurring talk about a Nissan lump? What class and cars is it for, and what are the known specifications for it? Over the long haul, even if the initial chassis cost is still up there, if the maintenance and operational costs drop significantly, it may well offset the higher initial investment in the physical equipment. |

EI reporting that ORECA plans to go to Sebring next year. No word on whether or not it will be 1 or 2 cars.

Sales of LMPC are funding their ALMS participation?

I suspect though that the ALMS will allow the use of LM-PC cars in a crossover period, and the Oreca chassis they use are LMP2 compliant so all they would need to do (in theory ) is change the drivetrain. |

I think that the possibility of the 'World Sportscar' races including both Petit and Sebring is also in consideration here. As well as Oreca's relationship (growing) with the ACO and the (ACO's) desire for the 'WSC', to be, in the near future.

Think Oreca will run full season if they have to support the LMPC/FLM cars anyway and find one pay driver

Instead of the Le Mans Series? I don't see that happening. I don't even think a parallel program between the two series is likely either.

I don't see that happening either. Their presence at the LMS races is fantastic, their set-up in the paddock is enormous; besides why leave competition to be the only team (or a minute number of teams) running in a series unless you want a gimme win.

Well, they are probably in the US anyway to support LMPC, the basic chassis is the same, Judd will be at the races for Drayson anyway, ...

E-I mentions that Christophe Bouchut and Scott Tucker will be testing the FLM cars after Petit. Tucker is the owner of the Supercar Life Grand-Am team.

That will kill the teams coming over for the PLM and Laguna Seca trip. Would many international teams make the trip for just the one race, even though it could earn them a spot in LM the following year.

Maybe, but I think Laguna is sort of a bonus for those teams. I hope with a six hour event at Laguna, it goes until 8 or 9pm, still going towards dark, or even past sunset. We'll see.

Not necessarily, Sept is freed up, Silverstone? As to Petit, we see that the serious LMS teams feel it is a requisite round, and there is still the swing to the AsianLMS, so... L.P. |

Wasn't sure how many teams made the trip for two races or they were just coming for PLM and figured while here why not a second race?

I wouldn't be so sure about that yet. Tucker recently bought a brand new Riley-DP and is the guy behind the Ferrari Daytona Prototype Engine-programme. He sure has invested a ton of money in GA this year and I don't see him walking away from that.
So this might be a secondary programme or something in connection with his title sponsor Supercarlife, i.e. either buying one or more cars as a trackday toy or setting up an arrive and drive programme. |

Here's my answer: "a six-hour endurance event at Monterey’s Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca that will run into the darkness on Saturday, May 22."
