#2 pits, great work by Lapierre to hold him off for the whole stint!

Like you said, hold him off. The Audis are definitely faster than the Toyotas here.

If you look at the times it's not as much, just discard the #8, it's clearly too slow.

Plus, Lapierre was even on older tires.

Doesn't look like they are that much faster. Lap times are real close.

On a clear lap the Audi's are faster but through traffic the Toyota is level or maybe even a bit quicker.

Over 24 hours fuel consumption could play a huge role, anyone else seeing some BoP changes coming up there?

I fear there might be, Toyota seems to be very well setup there.. not sure Audi will be letting that go without making a fuss.

As of right now, I don't think anyone has the pace of the guys in the #1 Audi.

Audis are clearly faster, but it's difficult to overtake because Toyota can use it's slightly higher top speed together with the hybrid system to defend... Couple that with the slower traffic and it's very difficult for Audis to pass them. The 120 kmh rule for their hybrid system is really hurting them, it' clearly visible Toyota pulling away from slower corners.

BOP for Toyota to help Audi?

Wait, I thought there was some sort of ACO evil dark conspiracy against the great and mighty Audi?

That's what I was told during the Audi/Peugeot days by the ''experts''.

Not a fan of Audi - but they really shouldn't let that sit as it is right now. Fuel tank size is a BoP variable and if it is clearly off, then it is the organizers' job to change that. Just giving one manufacturer an advantage like that is not a smart idea.

Toyota has a fuel consumption advantage it looks like, so it would be against them...as usual

I always thought the idea of Peugeot getting some special treatment just because they`re French was complete bogus. The ACO doesn't care about nationality, they seem to reward loyalty and Audi has all the cards there.

I don't think there's a manufacturer with more pulls on the ACO than Audi so that's why I think there will be adjustments there in terms of fuel consumption/tank size.

Well, if anything it equals Audi's power advantage...by the looks of it it makes for interesting racing so why change it? Both manufactures have an advantage and it seems to level out pretty well.

I just don't get why the ACO would be biased against Audi considering since 2006 the Circuit de La Sarthe has essentially been a giant Audi advertising banner.

It's a bit like if F1 was being biased against Rolex or DHL sponsored cars.

Are you even listening to what I'm saying? The ACO is clearly pro-Audi for the reasons you mentioned.

The only time I can remember that the ACO ruled against Audi was in 2009 when they were so clearly in the wrong that all their pull couldn't help them.

While that might be true over 6 hours, I am not sure it'd be the same at LM... When you get to the point where one team actually gets away with doing several less stops than another - and not through engineering, but through an arbitrary BoP descision - things become really problematic (all IMHO, of course).

At this rate it's going to save an entire pitstop compared to the sprint-spec Audis by the end of the race, it went a full 8 laps longer so far on the first three stints.

Did Audi get a BoP last year when it seemed that the Toyota's did 3-5 laps less then the Audi's at Silverstone?

No. Its still the same size tanks. Audis worse fuel economy is their doing. Probably why theyre faster by a couple seconds than last year.

For 3rd place. #1 already has almost a pit stop in the pocket and it's much much faster. Toyota need a safety car to crack the top 2.

Yep... Toyota are too slow to win this without help.

They won't win this, it was never in the cards. Anything that breaks up the Audi 1-2-3 would be a success. It's the first race with the new car after all.
