Exatly, I'd swap Danica for Will Power any day. Can't believe he hasn't got a drive.

At least Duno was seemingly improving a bit last year. She was starting to seem generally hopeless rather than absolutely hopeless. Perhaps by the end of '09 (if she races) she will graduate to very-occasionally-rubbish-rather-than-hopeless?
I guess the positive way to look at things is that if a totally pants driver is to be in the series, then it may aswell be with a decent team (maximises the chances of said driver becoming a bit more accomplished - that is, not so hazardous). It seems there are contradictory claims going on: one is that Duno is gone, whilst another says she is still around but with less cash? Does anyone know definitively (by which I mean have some source of undeniable evidence, as opposed to just thinking it)? |

I am hoping Milka runs just too see the reaction when she beats 'Stompin' Danica'. Unlikely but it would be hugely funny. The way the 'Princess' has been going in testing she may take Milka's place as a backmarker anyway.

Milka beating Danica? That'd have to go down as rather improbable in the event of both finishing a race without Danica having problems. Possible, certainly, but, as you say, not likely.
It would certainly be an interesting scenario, that's for sure...... |

Let's be fair here guys. Relatively speaking Milka is very poor. but then again sportscars have their fair share of field fillers. I dare say a fair few of the Rolex 24 field could barely drive the cars they were in but they were there.
Yes in an ideal world you wouldnt have the ride buyers, but they are a fact of life for the moment. A sad one - but it is what it is. |

Didn't Milka lead more laps last year than Danica?

5 to 4. Milka stayed out on a caution at Chicagoland to lead. Danica led at Motegi en route to her win and led a lap at Kentucky.
Details of Hunter-Reay's test: http://www.indycar.com/news/?story_id=13407 They've pushed out a redesign of their site in the last week. Looks nice. Black is an underused color in websites, never figured out why. |

UPDATE:
From the teleconference this afternoon, both Tagliani and Manning are one-race deals, with both teams working to find enough sponsors to help them work their way further into the season. |

Paddock Talk is reporting that Monday will see the announcement of a "NASCAR team owner" entering the Indy 500. The article does not mention who the team are, who the sponsor will be or who will drive.
http://paddocktalk.com/news/html/mod...cle&sid=105883 This is Paddock Talk so it could be a load of you-know-what. It would be very hard to see what a major NASCAR team would gain from running in Indy, or what a sponsor would gain since no one is interested in Indy Car any more. Due to the clash between the World 600 and the Indy 500 I would imagine that they would hire a veteran Indy Car driver for the team, which would be a good thing since quite a few talented ones are missing out right now. EDIT: Another point I missed was that the article does not mention if the team involved is a Sprint Cup team. |

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway has called a teleconference next Monday at 3:30 p.m. and this will be the subject of the event...The NASCAR owner who will submit an entry into this year's Indy 500.
The notice also said that the owner would be making his Indy 500 debut, which rules out Robby Gordon, and Mike King (IRL Network) mentioned this on "Trackside" on the sposrts radio statio "The Fan" in Indy that the announcement was NOT John Andretti's entry that is anticipated. |

I think you can go to "The Fan" radio station's website and listen to a podcast of "Trackside" if it is still there.
Mike King said that the NASCAR announcement is NOT the one that is anticipated for John Andretti. Mike King could be wrong, but as the main man on the IRL Radio Network, I would think that he probably knows who is making the announcement on Monday. Guess we'll find out Monday afternoon... |

Mike King supposedly said on Indycar.com streaming video today:
Team will be "someone we know" and "someone who should have already won the 500" Robby Gordon? Is the owner Tony Stewart, in partnership with Foyt? Richard Childress with Paul Tracy? Let the guessing begin. |

nascar.com is reporting that it is Richard Petty Enterprises.
The driver will be John Andretti. Guess Mike was not correct about who the driver would be... |

The Plot Thickens!
Mike King just said on this afternoon's inducar.com video stream: "The Petty/Andretti deal is not the one" he was referring to in his earlier comments.... So there is a Second Deal coming on Monday? On trackforum, a guy who does media and covers the IRL has hinted that there IS a second one coming on Monday. |

This article states that Petty will team up with D&R for Indy.
http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...FhLkwD97B7BF00 It'll be cool seeing the #43 at Indy! |

More and more, I'm hearing here in Indy that there is a "second deal" and it probably will come on Monday....
Childress and Gillette are the NASCAR names that are most prominent, with Childress being the most likely candidate... Based on Mike King's "should have won Indy already" comment, that makes Robby Gordon (who drove NASCAB with Childress for a few years) and Paul Tracy (who Childress wanted to run in a truck, but the $$$ didn't come together) as the two most likely candidates...both cam within a lap of having their face on the Borg Warner Trophy...... BTW...Petty will work in conjunction with D&R for the car, cooperation, etc.... |
