StickShift should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
According to Autosport.com, Pizzonia and Bernoldi to Rocketsports/"Team Brazil" is looking fairly certain now. Rocketsports are responsible for 50% of the budget, and Team Brazil (representing the drivers) the other 50%.

I read last week that Ranger has a more than ample budget to land a ride this year. In all likelihood it will be with Conquest again.

I'm terrible at doing these lists, but roughly, where does the series stand?
  1. Newman-Haas: Sebastien Bourdais
  2. Newman-Haas: Bruno Junqueria
  3. RuSport: Justin Wilson
  4. RuSport: AJ Allmendinger
  5. Forsythe: Paul Tracy
  6. Forsythe: Mario Dominguez
  7. PKV: Katherine Legge
  8. PKV: Oriol Servia
  9. Walker: Alex Tagliani
  10. Walker: Will Power
  11. Rocketsports: Antonio Pizzonia (unconfirmed)
  12. Rocketsports: Enrique Bernoldi (unconfirmed)
  13. Conquest: Nelson Phillipe (unconfirmed)
  14. Conquest: Andrew Ranger (unconfirmed)
  15. HVM: Ronnie Bremer (confirmed such a long time ago that I'll list it as unconfirmed)
  16. HVM: ?
  17. Coyne: ?
  18. Coyne: ?

Anyways, it looks like another 18-19 car grid. There ought to be a better quality of drivers than last year if the Team Brazil thing works out, and if Coyne, HVM, or Conquest sign decent drivers.

Has anyone heard what Cristiano Da Matta's plans are since he fell out of favour with PKV? Will he try to keep his openwheel career going, or will he turn to the notoriety of 'that dem furrener' in the Nascar Busch series?

I think da matta was trying to line up a brasilian stock car ride which would basically put a terminal end to his single seater career. I thought I remember hearing da matta got paid $2 mil for last year which considering his performances didn't think that was value for the money.

I don't see how this year's grid will be better than last year's. Essentially Da Matta, Glock, RHR (?) and Marshall have been traded for Pizzonia, Bernoldi, Legge and Power. I'm pretty confident that CDM and Glock are better drivers than any of those four. I'm excited to see how Power will do, but I think we're fairly clear on what Pizzonia and Bernoldi can do. I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Keep in mind that some of the best Champ Car and Indy Car drivers have been F1 rejects.

Frankly, if you want to compare your first group (Da Matta, Glock, Hunter-Reay, and Marshall) to the second group (Pizzonia, Bernoldi, Power, and Legge), I really don't think that either group is that much better than each other. Especially Da Matta, who had a very underwhelming comeback. If you want to make a distinction though, it's that the first group was in better machinery than the second group will be in.

Out of those 8 drivers, the 4 I'd ideally want would be Power, Glock, Hunter-Reay and Bernoldi, as they seem to have the right balance of youth and experience. da Matta was pretty poor for most of last season, and I can't see him doing any better with a 2nd year.

Glock might be better, but it was his decision to go GP2...

Couple of things..........

Wasn't Ronnie Bremer signed to drive with HVM in 2006 early last season? Why is he not even in the "unconfirmed" stage?
I seem to recall that Ricardo Sperafico is already signed for DCR as well...something also announced last season.....

Bremer was signed but it still depends on sponsorship.
ie. how much he can bring.

He hasn't signed yet. Expectation is that he will sign a contract this week though. But then again, that news/rumour was known to "insiders" for a while, but since it's DCR (and Pastorelli ) you never know for sure.

Two dutchies at the start of the Long Beach GP would be nice...I won't have to speak English all the time then

Autosport reports that Dan Clarke has landed the second HVM-CTE seat.

By process-of-elimination, it would seem that Ranger will end up with either his old Conquest seat or nothing at all.

Ranger only has enough sponsorship to compete in four races. Unsure of plans.

What happened to the Huge list of sponsors that Ranger and his manager announced a while ago. Okay read the article now and understand.

Hopefully the test goes well and they can create some new interest.
