Also, wasn't the ACO supposed to release the details of the waivers for each chassis this year? I haven't seen anyone on here post a link if it is available yet. I'm kind of interested to know how many of the Vette waivers are for things to make the ZR-1 raceable, especially given the engine has shrunk, lost a supercharger and carbon brakes.

Any word on whether the 76 Porsche will be taking any further part in proceedings?

BTW uberben, I dont mind BMWs and Corvettes almost 50 waivers that are not performance boosting, unavoidable stuff like, glass house surface area and suspension pick-up points for example because of the base car. The ferraris width is not a performance boost, but a simple fact that the base car is very wide, and when you fit those wide tires on the car it is that wide, you cant make it slimer without seriosly changing the chassis, suspension...
Ido mind, that BMWs engine is nowere near the place it is in the road car, same with the transmition. I would love to se a road M3 with one of those race m3 bonets, with those huge holes where the engine used to be |

Honestly, I think the BMW hate should make a step back today to make room for Delta Wing hate.

How can that ugly "car" even be legal? What would have happened at mulsanne yesterday if it was in place of the R18

I think the drivers should wear drving suits that look like the "Saturday Night Live" (NBC TV in the USA) cartoon characters "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" just to make the image complete. The thing looks like it is from a bad 1950s Buck Rogers sci-fi movie....or a giant vibrator... Maybe they'll sell smaller scale models of it to the female sportscar fans around the world. ![]() |

Exactly. Look at the location of the firewall in each photo, in comparison to where the engine is (or the strut towers). Not that different.

Pretty much the same looking engine position. Auxiliary systems removed and angle of photo taken makes that V8 thrown into the chassis almost as its a DTM car.
I'd say that it is maybe tilted and moved towards middle, but not by much. |

why was there any movement at all, when the rules state, the engine location and position must remain the same. same for the transmition, with is in the back with the diferential. while in the road car it up front...btw to me it looks like the engine in the race car is behind the front wheel center line, while in the road car its sitting on it
here is the engine position of the road car http://www.roadandtrack.com/content/...MW-M3_data.pdf you can clearly see in the gt2 m3 pic that the firewall is behind the wheels Last edited by arakis; 9 Jun 2011 at 15:17. |

Looks like the engine is a good foot further back in the race car to me.

Regarding the transmission, where did you get that information? Do you have photos that confirm this? Look at the position relative to the firewall and the strut towers. It is not a foot further back. |

What are the large ducts that are on the race car? Ducted down force elements?
Does anyone have a link to all the waivers? |
