Restart of the session in 10 minutes...I find that surprising, looking at the state of that fence.

Track is very narrow where it goes over the bridge, so (almost) no room for tires. Maybe the 'bounce back' characteristic of tires also plays a role in that policy (???)

Japanese Autosport report seems that Loic banged his foot in the accident, but other than that and some minor cuts and bruises, he's in pretty good shape considering what could've happened.

Might not matter too much, because most drivers now are left foot brakers because of the paddle operated gearboxes and no need to use the clutch/heel-toe (and Audi this year are using a hand clutch like in F1).
Considering that I've seen it take 30 minutes to one hour to fix catch fencing at NASCAR races, I'm a bit surprised that the session will resume soon, unless the fence damage is highly concentrated to one spot. |

There are several drivers at the track still looking for a last minute ride. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Alex Kapadia... perhaps he could be a suitable LMP2 replacement?

Dr Ulrich just had an interview on Eurosport and said McNish is at Duval's side at the medical center. They have no data yet on what caused the accident.

Just because he is conscious and talking doesnt mean he is out of danger. A. Simonsen was conscious after his crash, then he suddenly die.

i've just tried to explain in words why you should think differently, but can only come up with one suggestion. imagine if it was someone you care a lot about in that car. now come back to me and tell me honestly and truthfully you wouldn't think differently. |

Perhaps Duval's crash looked something like the one Marc Gene had in 2008 (also in the Porsche Curves), when he was driving the Peugeot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KfdRTQEiyw

The Audis have been ridiculously fast through the Porsche Curves the last two, three years or so and I can only imagine them being even faster this year. The ACO really should put up a speed trap or some sort of 'mini-time-loop' timing just the PC section to give us all an inside on the huge improvements made there by the factory prototype teams. |

As far I am (or was) aware, Simonses was in desperate conditions and unconscious before to expire because of the crash. Anyway former lmp1 audi drivers, however remain inside audi family; is not so unusual still to see mcnish and capello in audi boxes during WEC races (capello is still an audi work driver in the italian GT)
