So no power since Friday at Delta HQ. Next door fence blew down so Team Delta to the rescue. Panels bought from Home Base who were very good and helpful. 11 panels replaced and it took me and Stewart around 4 hours. Lady from next door recently widowed was delighted and paid me twice as much as I quoted her. All I wanted was the money for the panels. She gave me a cheque first so I said i will not bank it. She then returned with the cash with instructions she would not take it back. I have used some of the extra money and given to HRTR5 son "Freddie" who you will know is sleeping in his tent for nearly 2 years now and raised I think well over £20,000.00.
The balance i will keep as funds towards the show. Funny thing,I really enjoyed doing something different.Happy days. |

Nice one Iain. Tonal matching isn't a sight requirement for a race license is it
Doing something different is what keeps us going. . . Having been back drawing/designing a few years I thoroughly enjoyed doing some oily stuff recently . . . I'm genuinely looking forward to building a gearbox for a mate this weekend! |

I wasn 't sure where to post this so I hope no one minds if it is here.
Does anyone know of a good race helmet painter in the UK who can do a decent job on a complex design. Preferably one who can return emails in a reasonable time period. One in the UK and one in Australia don't seem to be able to do so. Good for them, I suppose they do not need the work haha. |

Hi drbob, not any painter/ artist can work on a safety helmet I think. That said, probably Max can help, in France we have http://www.bsdesigns.net/ and the one I worked with https://www.ocd.tm.fr/
Opilard always does a great job but works only with recognized helmet brands. Mind you, your device must be fully stripped before painting (low baking). Found this https://www.gprdirect.com/ Last edited by Gerard C; 27 Feb 2022 at 10:02. |

Speak to Miles Murphy at MDM Designs. He's busy, which shows he's good.
Over in Germany is my old friend Carsten Meurer of Meurer Racing Center, he's very good. Sent from my AC2003 using Tapatalk |

UK supplier with some very impressive designs
on website. I’ve no experience of buying their products but have heard drivers say they have been impressed: https://www.rennatdesign.com/ |

I do wonder whether one of the biggest lessons of the current, and devastating, Ukrainian crisis is that countries (or groups of countries) should establish a core of industries, infrastructure companies and energy utilities of strategic importance that it controls itself, and does not rely on the free market to provide.
So, perhaps the U.K. (and indeed the EU) should control it’s own defence, steel, energy, chemicals, raw material, micro-chips and other critical component industries and not rely on Russia, China, or others. Time to invest in our own security, in its widest sense? Time to reverse the sell off of critical industries and infrastructure to foreign buyers? Just a thought. Too forward looking for bankers, too sensible for politicians and not profitable enough for entrepreneurs. However the globalisation of finance and aviation does give us some tools to at least give us the (probably unfounded) feeling we are doing something. Problem is when nutters like Putin, Xi or Trump have a nuclear button they can threaten to press. |

Spent an envoyable weekend at an MG Cr Club meeting at Sandown over the weekendand finally got to see a set up I have heard much of but never seen.... im sure to you MG guys in the UK its not unusuaual but down here it is.... an MG midget running a BMW motorcycle twincam head. Chatting with the owner /builder it has been an ongoing project that he finishing for a while and now complete. As I say probably common in the UK but I took some photos which show the finished job in situ. Car ran well and finished 3rd behind a couple of very advanced and modded V8 B's nd sounded great.
Also we now have the MGZT 520 ex Dreadnought car in Aus which (Any ZT) is a rare sight here. Had a lot of updates since the Dreadnought days but still runs the livery. Apparently the last MG Purpose built race car and the last ZT built (so the current owner told me). I didnt think the pics were suitable for Bob's picture thread so put them in here as I said in case any interest. Probably of more interest to me because of the rarity down here but maybe some interest from oop North. |

As for the BMW head on an A series engine (presumably) I have heard of such things on minis I think. I am sure others will know better. |

EB, I did see this car win races at Silverstone a few years ago, driven by Paul Luti.
Seem to think it had a Mustang engine in then. |
