How about we start a new rumors page? This one is kind of getting ridiculous.

Any suggestions on who Bourdais new fast food sponsor will be.....McDonald's?....Pizza Hut?

P.S. Brightline, we can get at least 50 pages of rumours in before we should start a new rumour post.

Also posted on Champweb tonight...

Another rumor buzzing around the paddock is that Dario Franchitti has been on the phones with several Champ Car team owners, in an attempt to land a ride in CART next year.
Some may like it, some may not. To me the talents of Dixon and Franchitti are put to better use here. I think Dixon would be welcomed back. I feel the same way about Franchitti but I think a few here have strong views otherwise.

As far as the Bourdais fast food sponcer, would that need to be someone that has "French Fries?"

Sorry...had to say it...

The Bourdais rumor has a fast food place and Newman's Own salad dressing...The new McDonald's salads come with Newman's Own dressing! Sounds about right. Oh, and yes french fries is so wrong, yet so right on so many levels.

So what's the deal with Lily? Weren't they originally suppose to put their "viagra-like" medication livery on the car for Christian Fittapaldi? Why has this never happened still? Is Lily even full sponsorship? the logos are awfully small. Anyone know?

Dario said fairly recently that he was training for the 2004 IRL season... that said, he also said he said he'd never leave Cart while he'd already signed to go to the IRL.

Dixon should get back here, or head to Europe ASAP...another year in the IRL and he's likely finished. He never said anything bad about Cart, and I"d welcome him back with open arms (not true of the others).

From Cart-Racing.com: We can confirm that Newman/Haas Racing will announce a new Co-Primary sponsor on Sebastien Bourdais’ Lilly backed car at a press conference on Wednesday at 1pm ET at the Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport circuit.

Well duh... I'm surprised that autoweek article doesn't have the usual trampling of Cart that the others do. Some fans have said there is some kind of a rift against Pook, but as the article says there is no indication of it. He'll be there til the end of 2004, and then someone will replace him. It seems quite early to discuss his successor anyway.

i didn't want to start a new thread for this but an interesting point. Here in Vancouver we got the 2010 Olympics which is quite excpensive and Vancouver doesn't have that kind of money. This could mean that the Vancouver Molson indy will be one of the first to go.

lets hope note

If Vancouver doesn't have the money, then why did they go after the 2010 Olympics in the first place? Does everybody in Vancouver feel the same way or is that your personal view?

I thought the main issue with the Molson Indy Vancouver was complaints from neighbours, not cash. Also, how much does the city actually contribute? I was thinking this would actually help the Molson Indy Vancouer, because of the extra publicity the city will get.

The two events are five months apart, so I doubt you'll see any shared publicity. Second, olympic games are not funded by the local communities that they take place in, only partially. I seriously doubt a little Japanese village like Nagano came up with the billions of dollars necessary on its own. The federal government, and provincial government will flip the bill for most of it, as it brings a load of cash into the local economy. (They're also expecting these games to be as profitable as the Calgary '88 games, but that's a different story) Vancouver also has experience with large scale international events, like expo '86. They'll be fine, the Molson indy will be fine (as it is the MOLSON indy, there's an unlimited supply of cash) and we can all continue to enjoy our lives, our racing, and CART.

I didn't mean copromotion of the race and Olympics, but any publicity the city gets is good for the Molson Indy Vancouver....and there's no bigger publicity than the Olympics.

From Champweb.net: (1)Emerson Fittipaldi said that Chris Pook and CART's goals for 2005 is to have more street races like Denver, Miami and Long Beach. He said that Formula 1 is primarily road courses, and CART will be primarily street courses. (2)According to several people in the paddock today, the cylinder choice of the engines may not be V-10's. In fact, it is near certain that the cylinder choice will be V-8's...

CART has said all along that they will listen to what the engine manufacturers want, and it appears as though they want V-8's. We hear that the engine may in fact be similar to the IRL, but it by no means, is to have a reunification.

We can tell you that there is serious interest, from many parties all over the world, in terms of Champ Car's future. It looks very bright here in Cleveland...

It always does. Milwaukee, Portland, Cleveland, and Toronto may well be the 4 most loyal fanbases the series has. This is like the month of May for IRL, when the vibe becomes incredibly upbeat, and all the news is positive.

I think that you could stick Vancouver in that catagory too. The crowd is huge there every year.
