Nice one GTR. Have a couple of friends with R32s. If you're lucky enough to get one that doesn't break they're a fantastic car.

Trouble is I now have to remember to slow down to let them keep up ... my latest (as posted in the Impreza thread) is a 2008 Subaru Impreza STI 330S. 2.5 flat four turbo with a "conservative" 330BHP (246kW! )

Schweeet!
You just went up a notch in my book. I always wondered WTF was going on with that Magna. Good time to buy an R32 as VW has said they won't be doing V6 hatches.

Anyway, welcome to the Golf club! I have a manual GTI and I love it to bits, they're lots of fun and a very nice place to be for long drives.

DSG is fine. My old man has had a Jetta turbo with DSG for two years, and it's never had a problem... that car also gets a fair rozzing from time to time too - I doubt many other Jettas would have used launch control half as often as him.

Good choice.

(FYI launch control = ESP off, shift lever to 'S' mode, left foot brakes, right foot full gas, step off left. WAHEY!)

Hi all, I got really big into GT racing last year, and JUST discovered this forum, I love it. Here is my 1999 Corvette. Obviously, that makes me a big Corvette Racing fan. Can't wait for them to move down to GT2, watching them race against themselves in ALMS was just plain pathetic. Wish I had got into the ALMS when there was still GT1 competition.

No launch control for me... yet... with barely 1,200km on the clock, I darent use it!

The Magna was a good car, seriously cheap, and I kept telling myself that it was an Evo Lancer underneath... but it has nothing like the grip, corner speed, launch out of corners, nor the brakes of the Dub Dub...

Only gripe... is the brake dust...

I've just got a Smart Car !!!! and its the biggest grin factor I've had for a fair time.
The last few days I've been perfecting a 360 deg spin and carrying on without loosing too much speed. Its not the easiest car to do it in ,as its semi automatic with non switchable traction control and not a lot of go. I'll report back when and "if" I put it on its roof !!

No Adam Its a 2003 left hooker 61hp one on Froggie plates . I brought it with a sick engine.
I was contemplating putting a big bike engine in it but it turned out that it wasn't a serious problem after all. I shall probably take it as hand luggage on the plane and leave it in Mojacar rather than bother to SVA it.
Incidently I actually used to practice 360s in a field when I was on the Ovals, and performed one at Paddock Bend in 2007 in the rain (I didn't mean to) but got awarded "spin" of the day and a bottle of bubbly as I didn't loose a place and hardly any speed

Family bus is the renault scenic, my fun/work car is an 88 205gti 1.9, good condition and completely standard. My toy is my very modified 68 Bond Equipe sprint car and my project is a 62 Herald coupe 1200. All of which make me happy, although the Scenic is boring at times but very effective at what it does.
The 205 is dreamy and may become a future sprint car, The Bond I built from a box of bits, with help from various sources, sounds ghreat and goes like stink.
cheers Claypole

You can also park it boot or nose to the pavement. Although you only ever do that once. Two cars turn up and you can't open the door. If you do that leave the sunroof open!

One other thing I will point out is that most "smallish" cars that I jump into never have enough leg room for my frame. The Smart has loads otherwise I wouldn't have brought it !

hire one and have a go for a few days, they're bloody brilliant fun not desperately comfortable and tbh if you live in a hilly bit you may find you'll need to take a run up and change down to 2nd to get to the top but they're really cute little things. and so easy to park!

As well as the £35 a year tax and 60 + mpg, I notice that it is also exempt from the congestion charge ! Has any other 10/10thers got one ?

Havn't looked in this thread for a while, so thought i'd update!

Now bought a second car. Both fuel sucking V8s, which average 10L/100k's, which is on par with most V6s and some 4 cyls.

My 'Fun' Car. VP Calais International, 5.0L V8/6 speed manual

And the new Daily, VP Berlina LX Wagon, 5.0L V8/5 speed manual
