Story was that they intend to concentrate on LM only .

Maybe they might have that "new" engine that Larbre tried last year .

I know its old ..... but it still looks the part !!!

Given their car is leased from the whole Care Racing/Prodrive enterprise, I'm sure they'll be offered the new engine.

I don't think the new engine has ACO approval

Why does it need ACO approval Graham ?

Didnt it do a LMS race last year or was that FFSA ?

The engine doesn't have air restrictors. It is limited electronically with electronic throttles and a recording system. And it ran in the last FIA GT race in Dubai in G2 class and in FFSA.

Yes, it ran in G2 in FIA GT because of its lack of homologation.

Lola

Looking at the entry list we have Lola B07 and B06 in LMP1 and Lola B05 in the LMP2. Is it the same car running different engines of different sizes or are there more significant differencies?

The Lolas of today still look very much like those awsome black and green MGs in 2001 - my first live Le Mans (been back several times since then in more dry conditions). Is it basically the same car that has been further developed since then?

Its a new design from the MG ..... A B06 is the same as a B07 ...... B07 being updated on the aero side .

Much like the Courage LC70 and LC75 ..... Swiss Spirit's LC70 LMP1 from last year has been modified into a LC75 LMP2 for Saulnier Racing for 2007 .

The B05 , I think is the same tub as a B06 and a B07 .

I think im correct in saying the above , but im sure somebody will point out a mistake or two .

All this is confuseing me as well !!!

From what I can tell, the first number in a Lola model name refers to the year, the second to the actual model, a /10 being the LMP1 car and a /40 being the LMP2.

Therefore an 07/40 represents a 2007 LMP2 car, whilst an 06/10 would be a 2006 LMP1 car.

Team Essex has now officially announced that Casper Elgaard will by driving the 008 Aston together with Christophe Bouchut and Fabrizio Gollin.

Great news for the danes having Casper Elgaard and Jan Magnusson fighting for the GT1 victory. Those two have been figting against each other in the Danish Touring car Championship for the years now with Casper as the winner in the last 3 years.

By the way - thankyou for the info about Lola!

I thought Tomlinson had only stepped down from the Le Mans Series - but he would be racing at Le Mans?

That's what LNT say, anyway......

PWL withdraw. Basically, the season has been too costly already, so they will focus on the ALMS. Can't say I blame them.

Shame though, especially with how few ALMS teams are there.

I wonder what the car number will be - the ACO have them as #83 - but Seikel have that already........ ?

Any ideas on their drivers?

(The ACO haven't updated their list yet).

Looks to me like the ACO messed up on the Seikel number. The Le Mans Series cars should race with the same number at Le Mans as they do in the LMS.....perhaps the Seikel number will be changed.

Must say I'm gutted that PWL have withdrawn (although I fully understand their reasons for doing so). We've lost BAM/Job as regular visitors from across the Pond, and now PWL. At least PWL will be back next year (hopefully!).

Indeed, GT2 has a very high level in ALMS and a team like PWL is also a LM regular, they will be missed enormously. GPC is however a very good team and they have quite some good drivers, just look at the Monza line-ups in their 2 cars. So it will be just Risi x 2 and the Lizards from ALMS , little representation in term of numbers but extremely powerful!!

Autosport report that AF Corse drivers will be Adrian Newey, Joe Macari and Ben Aucott. from Mariantic
I hoped to see three of the FIA GT pros driving.
