I fear the day we have 20 cars whistling their way around a track.
Even watching the SEAT's on TV you can hear the tyres over the engine. Thats just not right. |

But I can't see it being impossible to make a diesel engine sound loud...

Sound is overrated. I go to the track to see cars battling each other, not to shut my eyes and just listen to the sound. The sound is merely a bonus.

But still somehow watching electric cars race each other is not exciting.

Would be, if they're on 250+ BHP and great racing.

This is really bad news for the racing fans...
I think, the sound is one of the reasons, to go to live racing at a track. You can see the action better on TV... Maybe I'm a diesel-hater, as they sound lousy also in streetcars. |

The sound of S2000 touring cars was never something to get exited about. They could drive electric cars, it wouldn't make a difference. Sportscars on the other hand is a different matter.

Not FIA homologated though. I imagine it'd be something VXR would look at doing, but it's pretty pricey is it not ?

We had Ford Focus and Toyota Corrolla last year or in 2005. There was a Volvo this year. What they need is just an official backing to be compettitive.
For Zolder, good news, i'll be able to watch a race. I couldn't see the WTCC since they left the Spa24h week-end. |

Can they use the Mazda 6 in WTCC?
A damn good car and the overall winner in Speed World Challenge Touring Car series this past season. Mixes well against the Bimmers, Audis, and Hondas. |

I surely hope it'll come next to Anderstorp instead of replacing it. I can only welcome Zolder though: one of my favourite tracks and action guaranteed!

I hope, we'll see Aderstorp next year. This year we have seen one of the most interesting round there, and i think, next year round will be the same.
Long straght and banking corners provide very interesting and close race, plus rain weather |

I read some interesting things in the german magazine "motorsport aktuell" yesterday:
1. N-Tech will buy some JAS Honda Accords and will enter them with full Honda Europe backing. 2. The Diesel-Engine from Seat isn´t nearly a real S2000- engine, because there are lots of parts composed together in it, that you can´t find in any road version. |

Maybe, but the article suggests, that the FIA gave much more freedom to SEAT for the diesel engine then to the petrol engines. They clearly stated, that the SEAT enigine is not a clearly S2000d as writen in the rules.

Surely one of the biggest issues is that they can use unlimited turbo boost!

The FIA were helping SEAT every way they could to get this years championship. Frankly im amazed that BMW didn't have a showbiz strop halfway through the season regarding all the technical breaks given to other makes.

I really don't understand the WTCC. What's the point in having S2000 and S2000D rules (or technical regulations at all!) if there's not a single (works) car in the series that's made according to the rules and regulations... And after giving all that freedom to do your car S2000'ish in the way you like and getting it approved by just whining a bit, FIA then changes minimum weights by some kind of random factor for each race.
