You are forgetting that ST probably pays for the coverage - maybe Mark will confirm. Certainly any stuff filmed and then edited in the studio has to be paid for and then presented to the TV companies as a ready to run package.
In fact it is quite a joke going into the studio to commentate 2 months after filming and trying not to blurt out what eventually happened, either in that race, or happened at a later round! It also requires a lot of concentration as it is up to the editor as to what you are actually seeing. His cut. |

I'm still struggling to understand why we aren't getting coverage. I could sorta understand when V8SC was on 3 and F1 on Sky, but now it makes no sense. Well, it doesn't to a pleb like myself at any rate.

The broadcast rights belong to F1....if Sky pay them a bizillion dollars they can show them.

Looks like Prime is showing the V8 Supercars next weekend from Perth delayed on Prime for those without sky - good to see. Was looking at the freeview guide and it's on at 11.30pm.

Thanks for the heads up. That's good for those who aren't sky customers such as myself.

Hi
Because apparently they aren't showing it according to their FB page Before the 2013 season started SKY were approached by the V8 organisers with a request to take over the rights from the incumbent broadcaster as the races were not being shown LIVE all the time and were often moved to time slots late in the evening. Our agreement includes making two races available on Prime, a Pukekohe and a Perth race which have both taken place. All other races, including Bathurst, are available exclusively LIVE on SKY Sport in high definition. Like · Reply · 11 September at 17:56 Pretty sure 99% of people would rather see Bathurst than Perth :S |

Looks that way unfortunately. This'll be the first time in 10-15 years that I haven't watched Bathurst and I'm not going to start paying Sky for the privilege any time soon.

You still have to pay to join the V8 stream. And any proxy that allows streaming you also have to pay for.
Vip box will work, but will be average quality and you won't be able to full screen it. However, that and justin.tv will provide a stream so you get to see most of it. |

I seem to recall some of you trumpeting the departure of V8SC from TV3 to Sky as a great thing. Now you see why I did not share your enthusiasm...

Just want to poke my head up as a Sky supporter here, the coverage has been fantastic all season, i've been over the moon with the transition of coverage to Sky. Whilst some say TV3 "Killed" the coverage, the honest truth is they did all they could, but it's not like the News was every going to be bumped for live coverage of every V8 Supercar round. In NZ Sky TV is the only way to get the amount of live coverage we've enjoyed this year, no if, buts or maybes.
In saying that, i'll be in Melbourne for Bathurst and miss the entire event.... god dammit. |
