Even if you ended up having say 30-40 non-trackday LMP3 cars competing globally, which in itself would be good, when you split it off in
- ELMS - FFSA - ASLMS - Sprint Asia thing discussed here - Possible ACO America series or whatever ends up happening there since IMSA wants to keep the frankenstein spec mobiles - Other events It is not gonna lead to overwhelming grids in single market The reason for huge 40 to 50 car grids not too long ago was because there weren't too many alternatives to go to, it was more compact. Although admittely, reverse has happened in LMGT. GT1 and GT2 used to be everywhere in international and national champs but now GTE is almost ACO specific category. But it keeps supported because no other GT class gets allowed into LM. Well other than at Asia... Last edited by Deleted; 16 Oct 2015 at 16:00. |

Oh btw you can also run P3s at Yas Marina 12h. So that's another existing Asian place. But artificially bopped below GT3

That I don't know, but if they already have these sales figures and at least half the cars will be used for racing, then by the middle of next year we might be well past 50 LMP3 cars racing worldwide. The market is there (or at least will be in a few months' time).

Well there are still some things to consider
- Is Ginetta able to keep it's customers due to, umm, possible quality control issues - Dome will have nothing to offer until 2017 - Riley, how will they ship / gain interest abroads (well, even in States now that IMSA cowarded out) If Onroak (and ADESS) are able to produce as comfortable amount of NON track day cars it is said sound good indeed. Bright days. Would be shame to spoil possible big LMP3 grid in ASLMS by dividing it into two within same organizers market place. But I assume most of the Oaks are heading to French GT anyway. |

Chiana, we don't know if IMSA has ruled out P3 completely, all we know is that P3 is not gonna replace the current PC cars in WSCS before the end of 2017.

I do think 30-40 is slightly exagerated at this point and the Ligier is by far the best selling car of the P3s right. Nevertheless, the (total) numbers are impressive. |

Well oreca mentioned they had 20+ orders for engines which can only be used for racing purposes (different to track day cars) so that's a better guess for how many may be soon floating around endurance racing circles.

Now this thread turned from Asian Le Mans to international LMP3 car sales.
Chiana, nobody cares about LMP1 in Asian Le Mans. Nobody can afford them in Asia and no race series allow them. If Asian Le Mans is not about Asian teams and drivers, then ACO should not bother. Once you ask Asian teams and drivers to join, then ACO must care about where they can run the cars for the rest of the year. But I feel I am wasting my words with you. All you keep saying is LMP1 have nowhere to go, which has nothing to do with Asian Le Mans. |

Confirmed sales/ production numbers are these:
Ginetta - 10 LMP3 spec cars are in existence Adess - 5 confirmed sales Ligier - 8 cars (at least) complete - total orders are definitely north of 25 and likely at, close to or beyond 30 (This based on current times being quoted for delivery and knowledge of production capacity) Ave/ Riley - reported as three cars ordered Dome - car not due to run before late 2016 |

And remember there is a French LMP3 Prototype Championship in 2016 - a substantial number are likely heading there

Kinda OT: But will there be any GT3s left in the French series? They don't have strong numbers even right now - and between the prospect of becoming a second class behind the P3s and the opportunity to race at LM in the new ACO-GT3-series - I'd be surprised to see many of them staying.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think 17 cars are the most entries AsLMS ever had, not counting the race where they shared a grid with GT300. Let's hope the trend continues. And stream the races! Even the South African Endurance Series can do it. |

Good to see, the series will continue to grow. Unlike the majority of ELMS events, they have a half decent support card as well. I still reckon the 16-17 season is going to be packed.

And adding a Sprint Series for P3 for the Summer. Still struggling to survive but feel more confident about Asian Le Mans now than 12 months ago.

The summer p3 series is an attempt to help Asian owners justify the purchase of p3s since 4 races in Asia hardly is enough. They're definitely doing the right thing. Going to be at least 4 p2s in Jan races too

So the morons who are the aco quite frankly have again put the first race of the 2016 calendar a week after the last elms race meaning teams can't get their cars and equipment there in time (I mean this isn't wec ,you can't just air freight **** everywhere) so again there's going to be a smaller grid than could have been possible and then not much incentive for teams to join mid season. It's just so damn stupid. Why do they continue to shoot themselves in the foot...

It is idiotic.
And so is having stupid standalone weekends only again. However at least the China event is at Zhuhai and not Shanghai so they haven't COMPLETELY fallen yet to the Grade 1 F1 track nonsense worshipping. That is good. I like Zhuhai itself too |
