Hmm, Marshall thinks/puts forth, it will end up with de Ferran as a 2 car P-2 team and 1 each for Highcroft and Fernandez in P-1. Along with a possible engine customer in the LMS. link

With the Embassy Acura link, do you think Acura's future direction will be engine supplier for P2, leaving the chassis side to P1?

I think it's highly probable.

Last year the rejcted inquiries about the engine. Kruse asked about one, which would had make sense because the car is the ex-Acura Lola

That may be true, but as with Porsche, Acura was/is busy at this time staffing the 4 teams in the ALMS and probably did not want to deplete their own resources in the race to catch Porsche. Next year they may be down to just a single team running the P-2 engine, so they will have more engineers available to service customers with (maybe).

factor in the reason as well why kruse might have been declined is due to the fact Kruse have not been properly competitive at the thick end of LMP2 for a long time now, not since 2005 consistently and you dont want your engine being showcased by a team thats off the boil.

what about Acura running the LMP1 machine's with the factory teams (Highcroft, Fernandez) and leaving privateer teams to buy and run the LMP2 machine in the foreseeable future?

It does now appear as well that AGR have indeed been dropped by Honda/Acura as well for 2009 so what next for AGR?

One LMP1 for Highcroft and DeFerran each with Fernandez remaining in P2. I wonder if Fernandez will field 2 P2 cars or if someone else might join the Acura P2 camp.

I don't think there were any pics unveiled. I think a coupe is very possible, but at this point who knows?

Or maybe Fernandez as the "semi works" developmant team and offering engine(ers) for privateers to run the other ARX-01b's. It would be a shame to lose those chassis as at the moment that would just hand P-2 to Porsche. If not Penske (leaving?), then Dyson. Hate to lose the competition at the front of P-2, and the ARX-01b seems to be, at the moment, the only chassis with the stuff to beat the Spyder.

I'm with you. You essentially have three vacant LMP2 cars now or will I should say in 2009. We need Acura and some new teams to step up and into those cars to keep the numbers and competition at the level is or even higher.

So they've made a trip to Paris and liked what ACO had to say? Remember that "staying in CAD stage until rules are cleared" rumour/report from Autosport.

Along side what engine, another question remaining... 24LM? Or is it self-evident?

If Roger Penske cannot go for an over-all win I doubt he will stick around very long; so competitiveness in p2 should be OK.

Autoblog seems to think another team may come into the fold and field an Acura P2 car.

"For 2009, De Ferran and Highcroft will run the all new ARX-02A LMP1 car, while Fernandez and possibly one other team will continue with the LMP2 program. No mention was made of AGR."

The way the P2 situation for next year was described in the original announcement (video here) seemed to hint at that being the case.
