Pontipine should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I have a question concerning marshals guests wristbands - do they permit access to any of the grandstands or restrict places guest can view from? No mention of this in instructions sent. Would appreciate some info regarding this please.

Usually guest passes are as the general admission tickets and so don't include a grandstand seat, they may allow access to the roving grandstands on the Friday/Saturday however. They may also allow centre transfer, but that sometime is only if you are on a post that is in the centre of the circuit.

They had reverted to all being valid for the centre of the circuit, there was one year that they weren't valid for the centre but marshals who were in the centre were given replacement wristbands that were valid for the centre.

Last year all officials guest passes were valid for the centre of the circuit, it may have changed for this year as it will all be different.

I think that offiicals guest passes were valid as roving grandstand tickets on the Friday only but that may have just been last year when we were issued with grandstand tickets as an added extra.

Metcheck http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/...de=silverstone currently reckons showers from mid-morning throughout Friday; mostly dry with the occasional spot on Saturday and getting rather damp from mid-afternoon on Sunday.

It's Silverstone - the weather will do whatever it wants to, regardless of what it's doing elsewhere!!

would be good if it was to stay like it is today...being wet would be rubbish, especially when it comes to packing up!

Last year they did a special, and issued marshals with a guest ticket for the new Vale grandstand for Sunday? at sign-on, but they made it sound like a one-off - guess maybe they didn't sell all the tickets for it or something. I wouldn't count on it happening again though.

They forgot to market the tickets for the grandstand (it was new) hence the reason we had them. It was deffinately a one off.

Question for FIA Lights Flag's from last year, were you 'on post' with other Marshals with the control box, or were you on your lonesome away from everyone else, maybe it depended on the location?

Also were the control boxes already there like the flags are, or do you have to collect them like the radio?

Talking of radio's which do you get, Blue radio, Yellow radio or do you get one specifically for lights?

Think that will do for now, hate not knowing what I'm getting into!!

Thx

Did the lights at copse last year and was on post with the other flag marshals even though the lights were set over 100 yards before the post.

Boxes are already set up when you get to post. You will have to stand trackside after sundays race to hand the box back so that nobody takes it away as a souvenir.

There are no radios for the lights.

You will find out if you are a blue flag or a yellow at sign on, usually both flags have a radio, note the radio pick up times on your paperwork (must remember to download it.....) the radio system will take a while to settle down but it will work, eventually.
As far as I can remember the lights work through the yellow flag radio

at chapel, the lights guy was near to us, but seperate to the cloth wavers by about 100yards. usually had a couple of incident guys posted near by.

He was on the Yellow flag radio network. since the system of radio checks was to check all the yellow cloth wavers, then all the light operators.

For the FIA test, your only out for a couple of hours, so waterproofs and suncream (and mozzie repellant!)
