Going on these numbers, if we assume 850+ bus trips and the park and ride facilities are going to be fairly distant from the circuit, we're talking a fair number of buses if they're planning on having everyone in before about lap 40 of the GP, as well as finding enough land that will be free that weekend (and I mean proper parking, not some farmers' field...and places like the NEC, Don Valley and other venues with car parks are only going to be of any use if they'd don't happen to have an event of their own on GP weekend) to park 30k cars. The chaos potential in this seems pretty big.... |

There's a rather large airport next door. surely they don't need all that runway space?!!!

how can plans for the new layout and buildings get passed. i remember just a few short years ago. donington wanted to put perminent grandstands at the first corner. this was not passed due to it being on the flight path for the airport.to my mind this is just bernies way to get formula one away from britian. haveing said that when i was on post at the brit gt f3 weekend.word going around was that bernie himself was part funding the venture.

No doesn't sound likely to me either. Much more likely he wants out of Britain altogether. I've had a theory for a few years several decisions have been designed to make the sport unpopular here.

Bernie does not like the BRDC since one of the Bufton-Tuftons dissed him at a meeting. I can quite see him putting hand in pocket to get British GP away from them. Apparently he kept Minardi going for a while and might even have contributed to Williams.

It would not suprise me if Bernie had a hand in moving the GP to Donington as has been said he would do anything to take the GP away from Silverstone

I'll be cynical and say that if Bernie's given any money to Donington to help them along it's to create a British GP "war" between Silverstone and Donington which will result in either a vast "improvement" of the situation (from his point of view) or none of them being able to host the race (in which case he can introduce GP's in e.g. India, Kuwait, Brunei, Russia and so on).

All they have to do now is come up with the £100,000,000 and everything will be fine. |
