The Happy Track Fan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I seriously think the reason that Mid-Ohio did not get a race, is because they already have two marquee events with the Indy Car weekend plus the new NASCAR Nationwide weekend, plus the AMA Superbikes which also draw well.

They have three major events with which to draw fans (and plenty of them judging by the attendance at both the Indy Car and Nationwide races), so they are not going to be hurting financially by not having this race. It's more of a pride thing.

For Mosport, this weekend is their big revenue generator along with the new NASCAR Camping World Truck weekend.

Lime Rock is unfortunate, but with the size of the facility, both circuit length and paddock space, this would be a tough weekend to accomodate. Losing Barber is also tough, but not unexpected.

This is a very good schedule. They did an extremely good job with it. You knew the "big four" of Petit, Daytona, Sebring and The Glen would be there. You knew that COTA and Indy were going to be there. Not racing at Road America would have been unthinkable. Plus, the manufacturers clearly wanted to be at Long Beach and Detroit, so it didn't leave much else.

I am glad that Mosport (CTMP) made the cut. With all of the improvements to the facility the past couple of years, plus the fact that Toronto is a HUGE market, plus the fact that it is the only Canadian round, plus the fact that it has drawn very big crowds for ALMS and the tremendous sports car history of the place, it deserves to be on it.

And, having VIR as part of the schedule is also important. Barber can afford to lose this event, because it is not likely to significantly impact their current combined weekend with Indy Car. But, for VIR, this IS their signature event, and even without the Prototype class, it will still be a great weekend for the circuit.

Lime Rock Statement:
Quote:
A note to our fans:

While we aren't on the 2014 schedule for the Tudor United Sports Car Championship - and are very sad about that, indeed - we want you to know that the staff at Lime Rock Park are going to continue providing the kind of first-class, car-crazy racing experiences that we all crave, and (alongside our lighthearted take on our current lack of a race) wish the best for North America's new premiere endurance racing championship on their first season.

So don't be sad - next year will give us the opportunity to build on our previous success with the fantastic events that have been featured over the many years you've been coming to our little corner of Connecticut, and try some new things that you may not have seen before but will no doubt love.

Remember the saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try again?" We take it to heart, and feel very strongly that you will see the premiere sports car racing in North America return to the track in the near future, and stay for a long time to come.

So give your support for the new series, because when they do return to the track that the Northeast calls home, we should have the most enthusiastic fan response in the industry - because you are the most enthusiastic fans in the country.

Before that, we've got our final race of the season, the Grand-Am Championship Weekend presented by BMW. We want to show the series, teams, drivers, our partners, and you - the fans - just how much we love sports car racing in the Northeast. So join us on September 27 and 28, for what will be an amazing fight for the championship and a great way to end our major event season!

Thank you for being customers, friends and neighbors,

The Staff at Lime Rock Park

Yes, and there is not going to be many Porsche factory drivers left to drive any GTD Porsche's in USCC

Not a Porsche guy, but it is great to see the company sending a works team. Very cool! And I am partial to the livery in the mock up.

Hope they keep Pat Long in this mix.

Did the Lizards apply? That ship appears to have sailed, with Seth preferring to spend his money in an actual Pro-Am category.

Second, who would you have picked (under an assumption that Lizards were interested)? The team promising a two car all pro effort, or the one with Seth Neiman as a driver?

IIRC Porsche has a couple of guys graduating from their Junior program, so that might actually be a good thing for their continued employment with Porsche.

I wonder what that means. Is Core providing trucks, truck drivers, and diesel money? The press release also indicated - by my interpretation anyway - that it will be based out of PMNA's California shop. That is a long way from South Carolina where Core is based...

Yeah not sure how it will work itself out but I read they are going to be entered under the Porsche North America banner. Have to imagine that Porsche will be stumping up most of the cash?

Will be interesting to see if Jon Bennett drives in maybe a PC or GTD or something or whether he'll have to be in an operations role. Maybe it'll be a Joest/Audi type deal?

AIM were exploring their options, GTLM being one of them, but nothing set in stone as far as I know.
