Sarrazin was great in aston martin, and surely one of the best, if not the best, peugeot factory driver until 2009. In 2010 I guess he suffered the presence of new and faster drivers like bourdais and davidson, in 2011 lacked of consistency but need to say also that he hadn't great help by montagny, while bourdais, pagenaud and davidson were on the edge during the whole season.
In toyota has never shown his skills yet, and with wurz has been the slowest driver so far. Need to say also that Sarrazin wasn't toyota first choice, but was recruited after TMG dropped the other japanese driver. |

He's stable and doesn't make many mistakes. Need to have that in a car with a person making his LMP1 debut.

The Wurz comments are interesting. I wonder if Toyota was using older or used tires for a lot of their running? Maybe they ran conservative with the engine mapping. |

On that I definitely agree. In F1 they're only allwed 4MJ from the battery per lap, but there is no limit to how much they can get directly from MGU-H to MGU-K, some people believe that Mercedes deploys as much as 6MJ per lap. Having a MGU-H is extremely powerful because it can eliminate turbo lag for one, and improve combustion across the entire power band, this has the benefit of giving a higher BMEP which generates more power for the MGU-H.

Anybody knows why "electric turbos" aren´t in production cars yet? I´ve seen some concepts from Audi but nothing on sale yet.

Most production engines are low on power and redline, and are rarely driven flat out. All those facts combine to make the gain. And it's not worth to use it just to eliminate lag.

Endurance -Info says there are rumors that Jose Maria Lopez (Pechito) was testing the Toyota LMP1. Pechito not deny this rumor, simply he says that because the contract with Citroen he can not speak until June.

Little interview with Conway on sc365. He says you definitely feel the difference in the powertrain.
I would love to see Lopez given a shot in the Toyota. Who would he replace if he took a full time seat? My guess would be Sarrazin. And if not a full time seat, he could partner with Hirakawa in the possible third car. |

as I wrote some weeks ago I hope to see him as official driver for Audi or Porsche, I think he is a top driver that suits LMP1 my ideal squads: lopez-lotterer-treluyer(or di grassi/rast) lopez-hartley-estre (pure raw speed team) imho he is a very very solid driver, perfect for endurance |

Why Audi or Porsche? Their future doesn't seem as solid as Toyota's.

buemi/nakajima(or kobayashi)/lopez imho Porsche will stay for long time, juts see how much spent on new facilities at Weissach about Audi..let's see if eventually will embark in the F1...but actual regulations are tough..maybe can start as engine supplier (red bull?) and then make an own F1 car |

I have less strong opinions on Audi. Maybe a jump to F1 when VAG thinks the time is right. Richard |

Porsche & Toyota seem to be in it for the long haul (2018 and beyond), I'm not entirely as confident about Audi though.

I don't doubt Porsche staying. Audi imo is 50/50. The main concern for me is if dieselgate may affect how many cars Porsche enters. Meanwhile Toyota is talking about finally getting that third car. That on top of putting Hirakawa in elms. Then you heard about testing numerous drivers like Sutil, JEV and now Pechito Lopez. Looks like a future hot seat. Plus the hybrid aspect is Toyota's forte.

Wonder what's happened to Beche and possibly being in Toyota's plans? I know the link between him and Toyota was... tenuous, but it would be nice to see him move up to a factory squad.

BTW as peugeot shown more than once, a car more powerfull but overweight is always better than a less powerfull car. Last edited by carbon_titanium; 6 Apr 2016 at 21:07. |

I thought he'd be reserve until he signed on with Thiriet's elms squad. Ironically (or not), Toyota young driver Hirakawa is in the same car.

Is it too early to nail my colours to the mast for Beche-Hirakawa-JM Lopez in a third Toyota in 2017? |
