Hehe, that's quite east when you are in a group that is full oof slower cars, like I was last night. It's so tricky to judge exactly where you are in relation to their racing line and to make such a small adjustment to drive around them is sometimes quite tricky. All that leaves is to drive straight through them, and they generally go spinning whilst I drive straight on, . I know it isn't nice but I could upset the car by trying to dodge all these moving chicanes and find it totaly unbalanced as I try to go into the next corner. The A final last nights was quite good, all on the same lap except for one guy who had a problem. The guy you've seen before and who also goes to my club was in it and manged to get upto 4th until he had a small accident and went down to 6th, then on the very last corner he was right behind 4th and 5th when they touched each other and spun out, he manged to grab 4th back by something like 2 hundredths of a second from one of them who was still sideways accross the line. Looks like I'll have to wait till the new year though till I race again but I may be able to arrange a way of getting to Ayr after that. Then I will be able to show you how it's dne on a regular basis

I have 3 sets of 2400's and I also ran one 2000 set, on my course it is quite difficult to race the 2400's at the start as they have so much power but at the Ayr track it was great, could even of handled more power. You should get atleast 2 sets of 2400's and if you have the money get another 2, so you have a set fully charged for each race. Or a good set of 200's may do but they may not last, mine started to dump at the end of 5 mins and they don't have nearly as much punch to them.

Have ordered 4 2400's from my model shop, and the charger as well which can charge 3000 as well.

Where do you put the transponder for timing on your car Herminator? Just remembered about that tonight, and can't find anywhere suitable to place it on my TC3. Were they given out at the club?

Yeah you take which ever one corresponds to where you were placed. You should have a place on your car with a hole about 8mm in diameter. I only realised what this hole was for when I got the transponder for my first race, as there is a short cylinder on it which goes into the hole and then a body clip goes through the transponder to hold it in place. The further forward you can mount it the better, for weight and for timing. It doesn't really weigh that much but it all helps. You may need to put it back ofter each race but often you will be the only one using a specific number until the finals are run. There are two colours aswell but you will be told which one t use according to your heat.

Cheers.

There is a whole on the windscreen of my car, which I use for the aerial, but I suppose I could just bend it under the body, and put the transponder through that hole.

So you get an allocated number and you take the transponder corresponding to that. All seems simple enought but the main man at the club must've some time arranging all this!!

you should never leave your ariel inside the shell, drill a hole directly above the mounting point for the ariel tube so it can stick straight out. But I have seen a few mounting the transonder on their windscreens. The allocation is don almost automaticly by the laptop he uses but the main guy does spend the whole night organising everything and commentating the races, it's great as you can see the times on an old moniter which is placed so that you can seeee it from the pits, but I wonder why he does it, he didn't race at all.

What do you think I should do ~ drill a hole for the arial elsewhere, or one for the transponder( I was thinking bonnet for the weight factor).

I think you should drill a hole for your ariel elsewhere, unless the hole already there is specificly made for your ariel, if it is it will be too small for the transponder anyway. As for a body I have a few ideas for myself, bodies I like are the ford GT40, lotus elise, the new HPI TVR but I don't know if you can get it yet.

Well, its kinda straight above it, a bit of centre tho. Think I'll put it on the bonnet incase I have a close race...

Mount your transponder in the window. That way you, and marshalls/organisers can easily check it's there and you have the right one, plus you'll be legal for bigger BRCA events. If you try to put it under the bonnet, you may find the rest of the mechanics get in the way, esp the steering. The other advantage of having it in the window is that if your body pin works loose (or you have a roll!) and the transponder falls out, the chances are that it'll end up still in your bodyshell somewhere rather than taking off across the track on its own! Some clubs will refuse to count your laps if your transponder goes astray, so it's best off to still have it under your bodyshell at the end of the race!
