Rockenfeller didn't quit, Audi just wanted him to concentrate on either endurance or DTM and he chose the DTM, for now.

No need to get all dramatic about it Race drivers get over big shunts, Lauda was more raw flesh than human when he climbed back into the car...they get over it.

Jota could be the ones who really get the raw end of the deal here. Losing one of your drivers halfway through the week is far from ideal.

Oddly enough, Gene ended up on loan to Jota because of some deal--details of which aren't know and seem to be largely rumor--they have with Audi Sport as far as some alliance of some sort.

I put this in the qualifying thread, but heres the ideal laps of the Toyotas and the two finishing Audis

#7- 3:22.934
#8- 3:23.281
#2- 3:23.753
#3- 3:24.318

Whats interesting is the #7 set its best lap (3:24.291) on lap 9 of a 13 lap stint. #8 set its best lap (3:23.652) on lap 9 of a 10 lap stint.

Just got in and read about Duval's crash here, http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/114399 and then read the posts and saw the photos here. Very glad to hear he is ok.

Really hope he is in fact up to the task. I'm pretty sure every driver there would be uttering, "It's just a flesh wound." You can't fight effectively with no limbs.

Sad for Duval that he has to see the biggest sportscar racing in hospitality on his birthday. Happy for him being unhurt and OK. It seems that Audi have already shown us more than 3 times that their prototypes are rock-hard as 3 drivers have walked out of a wrecked car largely intact.

Agreed, although Duval should probably thank the ACO for the change in regulations that made the closed cockpit prototypes more viable than the open ones.
