That's sucks... And I was looking forward for that Lotus Evora GT300 car to have a Cosworth engine, not a Nissan GTA-spec one!

Even dayton prutos have engines of their own. When you have mostly spec chassis, components, engine and gears, it starts to slip towards... ehh. Hopefully with this in mind they'll keep the old JAF-GT300 cars legal as long as possible and not force mandate the mother chassis for all non-GT3.

Can't think that Honda, Toyota and Subaru being too fond of Nissan's name there either.

Case in point, Toyota didn't show any animosity when their GT86 GT300 MC car had a Nissan engine.

GTA should open up the engine regulations a bit for cash-strapped GT300 teams who want to use the mother chassis. Having a Nissan GTA-spec engine is okay for smaller teams, but it doesn't sound good when you have teams like Cars Tokai Dream 28.

The mother chassis isn't 'official' Toyota program as the apr Prius is though, it's just something Dome built and GTA really wanted to happen. I think the organizers even funded the first batch

It probably is a stepping stone for teams to get gt300 cars on the grid. It also could serve for easier ballancing with a familiar engine to the rule makers. I think it will open up if teams start to voice desire for it. Nothing lasts forever, so hope its sooner rather than later.

Few interviews from Lexus + SF drivers... the Europeans (with their own personal translator behind ) speak in english so non-japanese may be able to get something out of these as well

Ahh the ever lovely trash-hillbilly Finnish media with zero understanding of anything outside F1 and WRC and with zero minutes spent in research strikes again
http://www.iltasanomat.fi/formula1/a...194703451.html

The headline says "Why didn't [Kovalainen] choose bigger challence?"

And then in the text there are such gems away
- There were "only" 15 cars in the upper class last year = bad
- Japanese drivers are "weaker" in basis as not many superstars have come from there
- Kovalainen must assume he's gonna get to podium more easily here than elsewhere
- Nobody follows the series in Europe
- Why didn't he go to DTM, where the level of competition is "substantially tougher" than in Super GT and where many F1 drivers have failed?
- DTM is also much "bigger" sporting wise and provides more "interesting challenge"
- Overall, it's quite astounding to find the man in this "not that well rated Japanese series"

Some of the comments on social media and forums have been almost as retarded, but most of those can be blamed on not knowing anything. However, this is just utter trash.

It seems the writer has lots of animosity towards Kovalainen. Putting down a driver is one thing but knocking on a successful series is another. I totally agree his article is trash.

Though Finns have been successful basically in every form of motorsports, only F1 and WRC (plus rally cross, MotoGP and drag racing to some extent) get any attention from the media or major audiences. Newspapers didn't even write about Toni Vilander's victory in Le Mans.
