Yeah, I'm gutted too.
Martin had him coming back into the tri-oval. And apparently Mark lifted off. |

Looks like Rusty Wallace just had another driver join the "crossing the finishline with no wheels touching the ground"-club

It appears he was hoping they'd throw the yellow, not that he slowed down thinking they would.
Man, it appears NASCAR 2006 TOTAL TEAM CONTROL has got something right. Not chucking caution in a titanic accident on the final lap |

By the way, if this week is anything to go by, Harvick can still loose all his points from a failed tech inspection. But NASCAR doesn't "take wins" even if it means an even more popular driver would end up win it

Well equally since everyone is passed the wreck before anyone sees the yellow, no reason to chuck one.

It was amazing how fast Harvick bumped up front there.
I think Kyle dropped a total clanger going for the block though. He should have clung to Mark. |

Just remembered where Bowyer obviously learned that trick - he must've watched the old Burt Reynolds movie "Stroker Ace" before the race

Wow, thats pretty creepy, the commentators just mentioned, Harvick wins on the same day that Dale died 6 years ago.

Would have loved to see Martin win as well. imagine having a career of more then 20 years, retiring, come back as sort of a mentor to the young guns of the team and ending up winning the biggest race you're ever going to win in the series. |

Only 3 rookies started.
That's going to help all 3 massively in the rookie of the year contest, but especially Smith. |

I reckon they probably should have brought the caution out if they wanna be consistent. There have been other times where it only been a 1-car accident (eg Talladega Fall '05 and Daytona '06) and they have thrown the caution, then when a big wreck happens nothing happens? I'm just saying this coz even though I'm not a Mark Martin fan it would've still been good to see him win.. I think he would've been ahead. Anyway congrats to Harvick.
