Oops, mea culpa. Having watched the T&S and chatted online during the live race I wasn't paying so much attention to the race broadcast. I rewatched the ending and the announcers were constantly talking about how close on fuel a lot of teams were. Maybe since I knew how the race ended and no one had needed a splash it just didn't register with me because it wasn't going to play a part in the outcome. Total brain failure.

#02 had to pit for a splash otherwise they would have finished 3rd rather than the 13th they ended up in...
