SSbaby should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I haven't read any comments in the thread (yet) but before I do I want to say I don't agree with Mr Ingall's comments re parity.

I believe that the Ford teams are doing a better job and there is no way you can conclude one make is superior to the other given Tander won the championship last year and should have won it the year prior. The top team never stays there for long in any sport. HRT and HSV just need to work harder... or (IMO) work smarter because the musical chairs thing of the past two years is a joke!

How Tander and RKelly were split up and Dumbrell joined the team I'll never know... but it's weakened both teams considerably.

Now to read the thread...

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I remebered today that there has been a big change since last year. Sequental gearbox.

Most of the ford drivers adopted it in round 1, where as the holden drivers hang off for a lot longer.

Maybe Ford are getting an advantage from early adoption and are getting their engine mapping better as a result result

edit SSbaby. i believe we are in agreeance

The problem isn't that there isn't parity, but that there *is* parity! Its parity that's made the racing boring... there are virtually no strengths and weaknesses anymore.

The Ford teams simply worked harder in the off season whilst TWPG 6 car team sat on their laurels.

Seems very even to me between Ford and Holden.

Racing can be boring without parity too. watching cars disappear into the distance, unchallenged.

I know the purists don't like the idea, but perhaps race by race parity adjustments is the answer.

If you take FPR away from the results, Holden look like front runners.

It's the same basic argument I had when HRT were dominating even though the whingers then are now the gloaters.

2007 Stats (After 7 rounds):
Round Wins:- Holden 5 to Ford 2

After 20 races (race wins)
Ford > 1st x 3; 2nd x 10; 3rd x 8
Holden > 1st x 17; 2nd x 10; 3rd x 12

It seems to be a bit of a turnaround from last year, yet the specifications of the VE Commodore and the BF Falcon have not changed. Could it be that the next generation VEs that Walkinshaw is producing are not better than their first generation. Changing of drivers, team managers and engineers has probably unsettled the Holden camp as well.

The first generation I am referring to is chassis 1 - 5:
WP01 was Skaife's early 2007, now D'Alberto's in 2008
WP02 was Rick Kelly's in 2007 and has just been replaced with WP08
WP03 was Todd Kelly's in 2007, now Andrew Jones' in 2008
WP04 was Tander's in 2007, now Dumbrell's in 2008
WP05 was Skaife's mid 2007, now McConville's in 2008

The second generation is chassis 6 - 9. These are the ones without the centre console of switches:
WP06 debuted by Skaife at Symmons Plains in 2007
WP07 debuted by Tander at Adelaide in 2008
WP08 debuted by Rick Kelly at Hidden Valley in 2008
WP09 under construction.

It's also good to see Ingall showing up Morris in the same equipment.
