At the other end of the historic timescale my best meeting was the 1970 BOAC 1000 at Brands Hatch. I was the only flag marshal at Westfield for the entire six hours in the pouring rain and I still remember it as one of the best days of my life. ....... or is that the benefit of old age and nostalgia?

That brings back the nostalgia for me too John. Remember all those meeting at Brands back then, sharing rooms and transport etc.

My best memory, probably flagging at Stavelot Viaduct for the 24 hrs with George Webster and Tiny Greenhill in 1977. Little did we know at the time, it was the last occasion for that post with the incredible view of the cars coming down the hill towards you.

Thank you for mentioning that, you were telling me about Stavelot Viaduct at Brands the other day and I meant to Google it but had forgotten!

I am surprised that nobody else has said the same, but I think that the whole set of 5 Birmingham Superprix, out of the 1500 meetings that I marshalled over 46 years still stand out above all others.

Oops sorry Colin! I missed yours! It's interesting that we are from similar pedigree, and think the same!
