According to the recent presser on the V8Supercar website, the board did not have a meeting at Eastern creek yesterday, and Cochrone is still in charge.

Cochrane is believed to have been warned not to offer further comments on the situation, a direction he disobeyed at the press conference prior to the first race on Saturday.

Can you sue for supposedly getting a story wrong ?

Anything written didnt seem to cut across the defamation line?

If it inhibits Mr Cochrane's standing in the community to the extent that it can impact his future earnings... I would assume it is possible...

Quite why Mr Lomas doesnt have the same problem is unclear

The current TV arrangements were a SEL play, although Cochrane was excluded from the negotiations which were handled by SEL chief James Erskine.

Not sure why a channel would willingly run a lesser drawing show, i.e V8s when AFL was available.

Widespread reports that the Chairman of V8 Supercars Australia Tony Cochrane has been removed from his position are incorrect.

The board of V8 Supercars Australia did not meet at the Eastern Creek round of the Championship in Sydney at the weekend as reported . Only this board has the power to make such a decision, if it were to be made.

This is the position of V8 Supercars Australia in all matters on this issue.
