They just got finished, looks like there will only be one run at qualifying what a bummer, for the fans who showed all they got to see was practices.

Just got back from the track. Not the best for racing but the accseability to the drivers is incredable. The race was a 5 minute trolly ride from my dads shop. The Atlantic poddocks were actually inside the convention center so I got to see almost all those drivers. Got a picture and an autograph from Legge. after all the main sessions were over, went over to a resturant and had a talk with a guy that works with the Trans Am series, he gave me his card and told me where to find him tommorrow, wonder what that may lead to? Even though things werent quite done this morning it didnt hurt the event, it gave people time to walk the track and find their seats get a bite of grub and visit the paddock. I think it worked out well. Im looking forward to the weekend

What, you're not going to tell us they're lying and it's really only 12 people? :P
It was kind of an exciting practice session and a lot of different drivers at the top of the charts -- wouldn't it be a hoot if we had a totally new Top Three tomorrow? |

Liz, the number announced was something like 40,743. Posters at a couple of other forums who were there said they weren't even checking tickets Friday with the problems they had so I don't know how they came up with that exact figure (whatever the "change" was over the 40,000) but they also said a lot of people were there.

Most everybody that Jeremy Shaw interviewed during qualifying mentioned that this track is virtually impossible to make passes. The crowds are awesome and the location is great, but I don't think I like the circuit very much at all.
Of course, come raceday, it may be proven otherwise... |

The track has much to be desired. Their is 8ft between walls at some points.
I hope they learn from the inaugural event, and it`s a safe race. |

Servia quick, and he is racing on Seb's set up, imagine what he will be like when he gets more used to the team and races on his own set up..

6th is extremely good for a Conquest car, especially so far ahead of Ranger. I can see this being a fairly dull race, and the poor quality of track construction is a bit of a shambles. How many of those 40,000 will be keen to come again after this? Street circuits are not usually attracting race fans as much as they're attracting local people, and a problem like this reflects badly.

I never thought I'd say this, but well done Nelson Philippe.
I fear a crash-filled race though. |

The track length is now listed as 1.446 miles (before any changes made to it for today). If Bourdais' pole time is 54.243 seconds, that means his average speed is 85.305 miles an hour, pretty slow, but faster than I thought it would be.

Correction:
1. I miscalculated, and 2. The Sunday San Jose Mercury-News now lists the track at 1.448 miles in length, shortest street course on the circuit with Denver next at 1.65. Consequences are that Bourdais' speed is 96.101 mph. |

We've had exciting races on circuits below 100mph, so it'd not autoamtically a bad sign.

I was quite late in adding this to luke's opening post...
TSN will be broadcasting this race at 4:30 pm ET. So if any Canucks are planning on setting up their VCR's to tape it from Speed, beware that it may be blacked-out. |

I forgot to say at any point in this thread before, the rather obvious line....
Do you know the way to San Jose? |
