Sorry about the size of the photo but you can see the road that runs up the middle of the hill and you can make out some of the bits of the never finished Grand Prix circuit.

Imagine the earthwork involved - bet it would've been a ripper of a track, though no doubt absurdly dangerous! As for Emerald Lakes - is it a Gold Coast thing to build artificial lakes and call the homes built there as having "water frontage." Last edited by prn 31; 17 Jan 2004 at 11:22. |

The earth work for the long Amaroo was all done but I am not sure of the route near the hillclimb, I think it bypassed the hill but it did cut through the dirt circuit.

prn31 - There is an Amaroo Park thread on here somewhere, complete with some pics of how it looked then (about 2001), plus some discussion about the GP circuit. A search should with 'Amaroo park' should do the job.
Although Bob Jane still own's AIR, what condition is the un-used parts of the circuit (ie..the bits used for circuit racing only) in? |

No Bomn but you will need some useful reference points to find what's left of the joint.

Bob Jane still owns AIR. Mr Novacs almost bought it, but the deal went bust.
Talk is Jane is going to do the place up (HEARD THAT BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!), but not to hold race meetings, rather to host track days, team testing days, etc. The circuit is not in bad nick, but not in good either. Put it this way, there's no weeds growing up through the track surface, but the weeds in the run off area are about 1m tall. The worst feature of the circuit is the same as its always been - the sh*t they put down for the drags as you come off the bowl onto the front straight. It equals four wheel drift straight towards concrete. The track's use at the moment is limited to media drives (car reviews for the telly), and the newly rekindled Adelaide arm of U-Drive, run by Team BRM. Off street drags run their, but no REAL drags (Jane vs CAMS, Jane vs ANDRA, what next?) |

For the track layout, go to http://www.racingcircuits.net/Australia/index.html then click on Adelaide International Raceway Turn one's a ripper - REAL fast!! And the corner coming onto the bowl is the most negative camber corner I have ever seen or driven - a great passing spot! |
