I guess it's a go for Ford and GT1, but is their any mention of Support for the ALMS Ford GT built by Doran?

I'm sure that when they're not thinking about how they're the only US automaker to not be completely cocked-up, they are spending their time crying in a corner about how Matech is winning with a car they no longer sell, and not on their dime.

Methinks there is a general lack of understanding about Ford and racing. I once heard a Ford relatively-higher-up discuss the issue while he was marshaling at Mosport for the ALMS. It was a sad and entertaining discourse.

Spyker in GT1! I like the sound of that.
I dont see why Matech should be excluded from GT1, Ford arent making an official GT GT1 racer so why shouldnt Matech be allowed to build and race the car? I think its pretty silly. Ditto Reiter, if Lamborghini isnt interested in racing the SV then a good team like Reiter should be able to make their own car to the new rules. The Prodrive 550 didnt have Ferrari's blessing and look what it went on to do! |

^ They took notice, and built their own car, the 575, but basically, only lasted 2-4 years.

Yes indeed NightStalk3r, when Prodrive started building the 550 they asked Ferrari for technical support, Ferrari weren't interested but the 550 still was a very good racecar even without the factory being involved. The 575 on the other hand had the full support of Ferrari and look how many races it won. It was only after they saw how good the 550 was that they changed their minds and built the 575 GTC hoping to emulate its success.............

How does Spyker goes to GT1. The didn´t sell enoough cars and they didn´t have a GT3 with a 2008 technical passport to homologate a GT1

At this rate, I reckon if you play your cards right you could probably re-homologate the Lister Storm into GT1.... |

That sounds more like no one has read the homologation rules for the new GT1

Now THAT would be fun. Chuck in a TVR Cerbera (Was it? The V12 GT1 car...) for flavour as well?

I too am still a little confused about the homologation. I suspect that Ratel will leave it open to a bit of licence if he doesn't get his 4 makes confirmed....
By the way surely GM can't be one of the Manufacturers as it effectively doesn't have an owner at the mo' does it? I'm guessing whatever Vette is involved will simply have Ratel's blessing whatever it falls under!! KA suggested an upgraded GT2 Vantage might be Aston's offering but as Matech and co developed the GT3 GT, then maybe Prodrive will be doing something similar with the GT3 DBR9S? One thing's for certain, I hope to god we get a Murcialago in, or whatever replaces it, just for the sound!! |

Hmm, and just where are these rules ( FIA GT-1 World Championship) published? I surely do not see them in the FIA pages. L.P. |

I thought GT1 was over 5 litres, GT2 up to. With around 500cc overlap where you could choose either way? Or have I dreamed reading that here?

Infact. The 550 was raced all the way up to Argentina of last year, just missing the podium. While Kessel became the sole team to use a 575 past 2005/2006 alongside their F430. It attempted Monza in FIA GT last year, but didn't start. |

Any guesses on the schedule and tracks for 2010? Has to be multiple continents since it's a FIA World Championship.
