Could the "Italian world champion" be Roberto Ravaglia? He'll be at Spa anyway with his touring car team, presumably.

More likely to be Thomas Biagi, as he's Italian and last years FIA GT World Champion.

Apart from that he runs in the ALMS and LMES in a Ferrari.

The 2-time Spa 24 hours GT winner should be Bouchut as all the other 2x winners have either retired or race with other teams.

Adding McRae would most probably complete the lineup.

McRae / Bouchut / Biagi. If that ain't a winner lineup I don't know it anymore.

I don't know. FIA GT is no World Championship. Altough it would make sense to put Biagi in that Ferrari.

For now...let's just wait and see.

Next year the SRT Corvette in Fia GT with Kumpen and Goossens? That would be great.

The Corvette will run in the G2 class, which I think is the same as FIA GT, GT class regulations. There are 2 guest classess, G2 and G3, if a car is in G2 I think that covers GT and NGT. If a car is in G3 I beleive that covers Cup class machinery and Ferrari 360 Challenge cars etc.

If a car is running in G2 then I beleive they run to FIA regulations. A Corvette C5R would be classed as a GT car so would run to the GT class regulations, whilst a TVR Tuscan is a NGT car. Hard to explain really.

Oh and as for why the Corvette is allowed to run in the Spa 24hrs is because the Spa 24hrs isnt a FIA controlled event, its a independent race, I beleive FIA GT's have a contract for the next couple of years though, but have allowed cars such as the Corvette, Vertigo, Lotus Elise etc in the invitation class.

Hope thats of some help.

thanks. i knew there were 2 other classes, and i remember last year that the vette was in G2 (think it was called national gt last year).

but then how are the TVR's running in g2 as well? shouldnt they be in g3? or, is it that g3 is more for cup cars

Not 100% sure but I think that G2 encompasses the GT and NGT classess. So if a car is a Porsche 911 GT3 R/RS/RSR for example itd be subject to NGT regulations as thats what class the car would run in a regular FIA GT round. You get the idea...

yeah ok..

doesnt the g2 class also have smaller fuel tanks?

another question. can someone rundown the way points are handed out for the 24hrs? i know that this race gives out double points, but how is that worked out? i know its split into 6 hrs, 12hrs, 18hrs and 24hrs final, but whats the points scale for each segment?

Group 1
Cars entered in the full championship or with FIA homologation.

Group 2
Only GT cars holding no FIA homologation in GT or NGT category can be in group 2. These cars carry 100L

Group 3
These are not obliged to respect the technical requirements in Group2 but must present the specific technical regulations of the single make cup applicable to their car, in particular with regard to the fuel tank capacity.

Lots more info here though;

I gather the Corvette is entered by EBRT. This wouldn't stand for Ecurie Belge Racing Team, by any chance?

Sorry, my mistake. EBRT is entering a Lotus Elise. Still, what does EBRT stand for?

Hmmm can't find what it stands for

I see they've been active in Belcar and the Spa 24hrs till 2001 or so (I think). This year the Elise will be entered by Campus Automobile, same team as in 2003. It might be the EBRT team but with a new name as the car caries the same sponsor as in the 2001 24hrs...
