I agree about Sheene actually, but he saw in the Aussies what I say and thats not necessairly anymore talent than British riders, but more drive and determination.

I cant believe that we havent got a Doohan, Rainey or Schwantz in the UK somewhere, but we have got riders that have come to the sport and not had the drive to really make it work, I know of many riders who ahve given up eiethr through lack of money or a circumstance change.

BAyliss was very wild when he first came over and wasnt a regular winner til the second year, same as Richards and Vermuelen. Chris was good but no better than Moodie and Crawford, dont think he actually ever won a SS race over here.

But because SHeene was there and getting them exp[osure they get the breaks, yes they worked for them, but there is clearly a certain rose tinted glasses thing about Aussie riders in world racing.

Its to their credit that the situaiton is like that, but I dont think theya re any more talaneted than us, Italians or Spanish, not anymore anyway, maybe 10 years ago, but not anymore.

Rossi 1.3 seconds slower than his teammate, a DISGRACE! I wonder if he keeps his seat in 2008...

Good to see Nicky finally going well, but go Casey.

Interesting comments there Chunder, i was always of the impression that if you are near or at the front of the pack then that would denote some sort of talent, & if you are not then you were'nt. ( i can see the worms wriggling )

Talent the way i see it, is being able to overcome adversity in any situation & keep it all together whilst maintaining a slight advantage over you're competitor no matter what the situation, & although it may be a slight advantage it's still what makes people take notice of what you are doing.

That is why the Aussie rider has been so prolific over the last twenty years or so, the platform was laid down with gardner, & followed suit by the rest of them & most Aussie riders know what they have to do to get to the top, they have so much to live up to so they just do not give up until that has occured, & that my friend is what breeds talent & from a ( personal Aussie veiw point ) seems to be what is lacking amongst English riders, & my point is weighted up severly with you're WSBK rider the other day stating " I'm not going to MotoGP unless it's with a Factory Team " that attitude is going to do him no good if he does get into GP & finds himself the second rider in a team, their will be no end to the whinging.

It honestly seems as though the Englsh riders just have to toughen up a bit ole mate.

All spoken with tongue in cheek.

Not really a sore loser mate, just get fed up watching teams fall over themselves to employ Aussies.

Yes its because theya re good, but you ahvd to admit that managers have rose tinted specs when it comes to you lot.

I mean some of them arent that good but still got rides, like Richards, McCarthy,Willis and a few others.

It used to be the same with AMericans, but not anymore remember.

Oh! So it is not the riders you have a beef against, it's the teams.
That hasn't been made obvious in your posts of late.

Aussie riders cheat.

From very young age they are used to ride upside down, obviously with very small grip. So when they go to Britain they are massively more prepared to ride bikes in the limit.

It is lucky that penguins don't ride bikes, otherwise Antarctica would have many World titles.

I know this theory makes this as the most brilliant post in this (otherwise lame ) thread, except jhansen's post about 3 Americans in the first 10, that was a top post. Ok, every post from Gerben has been very good as well. And I don't want to forget every post from the Aussies, they have been very clever everyone of them... Damn... now I realize my post is the poorest one in the whole thread (except possibly chunder's ones ).

So, finally I think I'm not going to post this pitiful thing. Yes, I'm going to push the "Cancel" button now... Aaaaghh, I pushed the "Post Quick Reply" button!!

Surprising that they don't do so well in Formula One, considering that aerodynamically you can drive those cars along a roof....

The only consolations for UK fans is the success of our riders in World Superbikes, and the prestige of our domestic Superbike series. Grand Prix has been a tougher nut to crack.

Yeah I was a bit worried about that, but I think what it meant is that Stoner's best lap was on lap 6, and he did 21 laps.
