Consistency wins championships which is something Reed seems to have even if he cant beat Stewart 1 on 1 he could still walk away with the championship

With the way the points are structured, it's tough for anyone to walk away with it. But I would think that Chad would like to win on the track and not by finishing second. And I'd like to see that happen.

The AMA Supercross has possibly the ultimate system for preventing dominance from winning early. It seems nearly every year that someone is blatantly faster, and wins lots, but yet it goes to the wire.
It is a system where consistenty and recovery from disaster are the key factors. This year, so far at least, is a fine example. Stewart makes mistakes if under race-lead pressure. In AMA Supercross, at the championship level, mistakes lose championships. Rightly or wrongly, winning endlessly without backing it up with lots of podiums is not adequate. |

Reed won in St. Louis after Stewart crashed out of the lead. Stewart finished second. Reed now leads by 11 points. Can we have a good head to head?

We do get occasional races when Chad is actually on Stewart's pace, so it might happen; it isn't exactly likely, though, given James is so ludicrously fast...

I thought in this race that Reed won fair & square from what i read - how far ahead was Stewart when he crashed?

Stewart wins Jacksonville from Reed. The lead is cut down to 5 points, with 3 left to run.
It took until about halfway for Stewart to assert a certain and convincing position at the front, but had been giving grief to Reed for a few laps before getting by and Chad made a couple of errors. Chad gave him a good run for his money, if ultimately still not fast enough. You can tell the pressure is mounting since they were niggling at each other in practice, during the race, on the slow down lap, and on the podium. They both remained tight-lipped what it was all about, though. |

The Chad needs to get tougher both mentally & physically - Stewart has the edge unfortunately...

Stewart fell in his heat (small one, and fast recovery).
Whilst Stewart will all but certainly win the three remaining rounds if he stays on the bike, it is completely possible he'll screw up in one and Chad will win it. Whilst it may not be an ideal way for it to be so, there is absolutely no way to know who is going to win this title. |

Fair play to the Chad - it would have been easy to just back it off and settle for second, but the guy is still full-bore flat-out. Stewart has the edge in pure pace whilst Reed is the nerveless man of steel, but it's still all to play for for the top two.

Did Villopoto win it by default? Did Stewart crash? That puts Reed in a tough spot now.

From what i heard it wasnt a token win, so big congrats to Ryan & Kawasaki - Reed & Stewart had terrible starts while Villopoto had a good one & he led all the way in his home town ....

Ryan Villopoto got the final race win in Las Vegas by 8 seconds over Chad Reed - Stewart cruised to the 2009 Title in 3rd place - congrats to him, he did deserve the title this year....
Hopefully in 2010 the Kwaka & Villopoto can race on the same level week in, week out with Stewart & Reed - time for the outdoor series now, i dont think Reed is doing it, so it's up to Villopoto to give Stewart a run for his money... Final Points... 1. James Stewart Jnr - 377 2. Chad Reed - 373 3. Andrew Short - 270 |

Stewart isn't doing outdoors either, L&M Yamaha is a Supercross only team
Don't think Reed is a definate 'no' for the outdoors, but he's far from confirmed either. Good season from Stewart & Reed too, although life was made easier for Stewart at the second last round with Chislom's questionable riding |

Reed is coming back to Australia next week for holidays & to get things happening for the 09 Australian Super X Championship, which he is heavily invested in...
Find it hard to believe that Stewart isnt doing the outdoor championship... |

Havent been on here for a while...
There is a vid of Stewart doing some outdoor testing. http://motocross.transworld.net/2009...stewart-video/ Has the red no1 plate on his bike aswell. Maybe he is doing a few rounds after all?? Or the rumors may be true and he is coming to try his luck in europe? |

Well, it was reported that Stewart and Fox fell out after he said he wanted to do SX only in '09, hence the switch to Answer/Bell/Alpinestars. But it was also reported that he wanted Red Bull sponsorship (he was with Monster on the Kawasaki team) another possible reason for his team switch. If he is doing the outdoors then i for one hope Reed is, but he (Reed) seems to be busy with his SX series back home. Shame. Would be a great fight.

Think Stewart has Reed's measure outdoors - would be great to see him do World MX, but the season has already started.... May aswell blitz AMA for another year!
