So the series actually has signed up some ST teams to race in it?? I am disappointed to hear that Speedvision and PowerTour could not come to an agreement. I would have really loved to just see how the series looked like? Any chance you can include some long clips or races online at your website?

I am one of the few Aussie race fans who liked ST and would be love to see it take off, but I'm doubtful that this effort will succeed, it just seems like to little to late. ASTC seemed to lack some direction and with such predatory opposition, it was always going to struggle to find a market. Without appealing to beer swilling boofheads it's hard to be a big player in Australia. I just don't know what the new administration to do to make the series work.

Small field for the Super Tourers...I mourn the loss of the ASTC as a serious rival to the V8's. Despite what AVESCO would have us believe, V8's aren't all there is to motor racing....

small but better than last year, which is good, and seeing as the series is stand alone, hopefully some other cars will be dusted off and join in.
Spot on DNQ. On the entry, where is dave Auger, and am i reading write, i certainly hope i am, and Alfa 156 for Andre Morgan, fantastic. Guess i'll have to buy a 5 hour tape for the Superbikes cos' i'm off to Oran Park next weekend, the category line-up looks great, 21 races on the sunday. |

David Auger is hopeing to go to Asia later in the year and race Super Production.
Andre's Father has just completed the purchase of David Augers Car. its great here that there is still some ST fans out there, over the last 3 years to ST field has slowy got smaller and smaller, last year we were luck to get 6 cars on the track, as of last night we have 13, and hopefully we will also get a primera by the weekend. you can now also add Ric Shaw to the field driving a Peugeot 406. this week end will see the start of the rebuilding of the catergory. Hope to see you all there. Last edited by ASTEM; 18 Mar 2002 at 20:16. |

Looking at the entries for the first round at the very least, it should be a very exciting year!! All the cars seem pretty closely matched. I see "two" (as opposed to three during the last 2 years) groups (based on reliability and speed), the Lantra/carinas (1st group)and everyone else (2nd group). But despite this, at least they are better matched due to the lack of the "third group" consisting of Morris/Vectra of years past?

This is getting better and better, it looks like we will have some very competitive racing.
Likely frontrunners look like Henderson, Hills, Johnson, Gurr, Miller and Searle, and probably Ric Shaw once he gets to grips with the 406. Andre Morgan should be competitive as well seeing as he has a Alfa 156. Nice website as well. |

Yeah, I am looking forward to this ALOT! It's great to see so many of can see beyond Tony C's 'V8's are the only category' hype. I don't hate the V8's, but I love the technology and variety of the Super Tourers. What I'm looking forward to most though, is the return of Henderson in the Vectra. I wouldn't be surprised if he wipes the floor from underneath everyone else, but it's great to see him back.

Yes, how awesome is this. This Sunday should be magnificient. Sadly it being on the same day as the Superbikes is a major disappointment, but if it wasn't the superbikes it would have been something else. The field is quite nice, there should be some great races out there. The Vectra is favourite, but Gurr in a BMW should definately one to watch. After the disappointment of the cancellation of the championship last year, this SUnday will be an important day.
Cheers ASTEM |

TV: Channel Ten, Still under negotiation!
at this stage there will be 24 hours of TV on ten, that breaks down to about 28 Minutes per Round of Super Touring Coverage, time slots are still to be confirmed, at this stage most will take place after sports tonight on sunday evenings. Fox have confirmed 96 Hours of tv, which is essentially the 10 coverage repeated 3 times, the time slots for fox are yet to be confirmed due to live TV comitments (Rugby League ETC) At ASTEM we know that Day time tv is what the viewers is after. and we will be working hard over the comming weeks to get some daylight TV. OTHER CARS? Well at this stage we have a possible honda, nissan and another BMW for Adelaide, these are yet to be confirmed. by our count there are another 6 Puegeots, 2 Nissans , 1 mondeo and 3 BMWs in garages around Australia our hope is to get as many of these cars on the track as we can. IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME. as soon as i have more details about the TV it will be posted here and on our web site http://www.ozspeed.net |

After Sports Tonight of a Sunday night ? Hmmm...sometimes Channel 9 show this other motor racing series around this time - I think it's called Formula 1 or something like that ? Just thought I'd mention it.

Henderson's racing again? Hmm, I think he deserves a "class" of his own regarding competitiveness. I don't think anyone comes close to his car prep, possibly Hills. It's too bad David Auger won't be racing this year. So has Andre Morgan bought David Auger's 155?

Alan Gurr, is replacing Luke Searle in the SAE BMW, this is the car that Luke has raced for the last 2 years, Luke hopefully will be making serveral apperances this year in a 2nd BMW that the team has aquired.
