Ahh, the Golden Syrup GTi!!!! That was an nifty piece of marketing for both Rover and Lyle's. Nice colour scheme and I would've thought ideal for model collectors!

I don't know why I bothered wasting my time searching, scanning, cropping, cleaning up and uploading all those attachments on the previous page - clearly they were of very little interest to the original poster!...
...and maybe I was expecting a little too much for a simple 'Thank you'? |

'Thank you David'! (No, I am being serious, being a nostalgia junkie, I enjoy re-living all of this type of stuff). |

To be fair it wasn't really aimed at yourself VIVA GT (as you well know), although I do thank you for your acknowledgement - it means a lot, sniff, sniff...

I honestly do enjoy your knowledgeable contributions to these threads, you just have to (somehow) grow a thicker skin and not worry about the niceties. (We gentlemen are few and far between. Shall we start a mutual appreciation society?) |

Maybe that's the answer VIVA GT - a self mutilating society! I give my right arm to find one of those...
...anyway, time to move on - I've made my point. |

Nice photos Peter... I like the one of Northy over the jump!! he has told me plenty of times how bad the hydrogas reacted over jumps due to the cars not having individualised suspension!!
Roger, I have sent you a PM and look forward to hearing some tales. I know the one about the time in Ypres where Chris Pope ended up in someones living room!!! Regards Chris Astley |

I race a metro in MG metro cup and i believed my car was one of the original dunlop metro gti cup cars. Although having done some more research it looks like my car is either an original that has been reshelled or a reserve car as its not got a sunroof. It definitely did some racing back in the early 90's and was built by rover as a purpose built race car. My reg is G48 JOF Thats about all i know, i'll attach a picture...

Your car was quoted in an earlier post by CJCA on the previous page Tom - Post #17 on Page 2 - so by the looks of things it also has some previous Rover Sport Dunlop Metro GTi Challenge history. |

It would be cool if i could find some more info about it or mabye a picture of it racing when it was new. Its had a fiar few mods in its time as it would have been single point injection and would have had the multispoke syle wheels, anyway theres a build journal and some pictures of it when i first bought it on here... http://www.metropower.org.uk/forum/f...=53874&start=1 |

Some great information on here, was a good read and really enjoyed looking through the scanned articles.
I have a grey standard rover metro gti so isn't a dunlop gti challenge car, but would be great to see some dunlop gtis in storm grey because i'd like to do a replica some time in the future. My favourite one from the pictures scanned would be this one: http://tentenths.com/forum/attachmen...3&d=1269521450 Thanks, Connor. |

Hi Stormgreygti,
I am sure it was Malcolm Oxborrow's car that was storm grey, there may have been another one as well, but I am not sure who campaigned it Hope this helps ChrisAstley |

Hi all, i purchased an original Roversport metro gti rally lamp pod and wiring loom the otherday.
Does anyone know how they were fixed to the bonnet? Also what lamps they used and how they were mounted? Finally i'm looking for some original decals ( the red and yellow striped ones) for the front and rear of the car, also it would be nice to know if anyone has any of the decals on the rear quarter which are on a black background i think with Unipart etc written on it. And a number board with the rover logo as per original which was stuck on the front doors. And it would be nice to see more pictures of Malcolm Oxborrow's storm grey gti car if there are any. Thanks for all your help. Connor. |
