In the press release it says something about a Crawford GT/Ferrari V8, is that a DP?? I know the team has a 430, which car are they referring to??
On the entry list the car is listed in GT so I do believe it is the 430.

That's true, he did do Sebring a few times and also did the Rolex a few times in the past. I was just wondering if he had ever done any other ALMS races or Rolex races besides Sebring and Daytona?

Their GT car is a Crawford-built Fauxari, but they are reported working on a Ferrari-powered Crawford DP for next year, possibly with the V12.

They struck the 6- or 8-cylinder wordage from the rules a year or more ago.

Thought there was something about it from before, but the rules on their website still show 6 or 8 cylinders...

Hmm...what rules are you looking at? In the DP rules it used to be very specific in the engine eligibility section that only six or eight cylinders were eligibile.

They had an old Crawford on display at NJ Motorsports Park, their plan was to use the F430 V8.

Engine list - http://208.112.96.124/assets/DPEngines.pdf

Rules - http://208.112.96.124/assets/DPRules.pdf
Quote:
4-3 Detailed Engine Requirements -
4-3.1 Six or eight-cylinder engines up to 3.99 L are allowed with unlimited compression and
unlimited air inlet.
Four-valve engines larger than 4.0Lto 4.35L are allowed a maximum compression
ratio of 11:1. Maximum RPM and maximum valve lift will be determined for each
engine-type and listed in detailed engine specifications. Intake air restriction may
also be required.
Four-valve engines larger than 4.35L to a maximum of 5.0L are allowed a maximum
compression ratio of 11:1 and a maximum cylinder bore of 3.720 inches. Maximum
RPM and maximum valve lift will be determined for each engine-type and listed in
detailed engine specifications. Intake air restriction may also be required.
Engines over 4.5L in displacement must run a five speed transaxle.
Two-valve engines up to 5.0L are allowed a maximum compression ratio of 11:1 and
a maximum cylinder bore of four inches. Maximum RPM and maximum valve lift
will be determined for each engine-type and listed in detailed engine specifications.
Intake air restriction may also be required.
I see what it might have been. When I saw 6 or 8 cylinder, I read that as the limit. Looks like any approved engine up to 5.0L is allowed regardless of the number of cylinders.

I'm now sure I read a bulletin about engines, but I wasn't going to look thru them as one would have to look thru each of them to find it (they're not titled for easy reference on the website).

Does anyone think that GM will be back in Grand Am after all the restructuring and what effect could it have on the series if they leave? It seems almost certain if you add 2 and 2 that Pontiac will be gone next year but you never know.

It all depends on how much money GM spends in GA. I don't think they are that involved in DP, as the engines are built by independent tuners. So Pontiacs only involvement in the DP-class might be contingency-sponsorship for their teams, and with 5k for a win and 3k for 2nd and 1000 for a third place finish that doesn't sound all that much.

The situation is somewhat different in GT with Banner Racing as a semi-factory-effort, but even if they pull out there are three privateer GXP.Rs left, with Stevenson even talking about a second car.

Lets see Pontiac won the GT class and the engine for the DPs.

Not sure were the idea of that kind on contingency money comes from? was it listed on the contingency programs for GARR?

I think, BMW M3 V8 4.0L would be nice variant. Sodemo promised about 560hp from this engine in LMP2. Using restrictors

There's already a 5l-V8-BMW-engine prepped by Dinan. This season it was used by Sigalsport and SAMAX, unfortunately the later ran out of money a few races before the end of the season.
