Black Swan's RSR was Farnbacher Loles 2009 car, and is also up for sale, so at the moment no one has bought it. |

Kind of funny to have already set up that replacement now in a series that where driver swaps in and out are hardly rare! We in sportscars could do without him, frankly. Interesting to see a V8 Vantage in this series for Villois, the car has not exactly impressed when out of the hands of top pros - nothing against the drivers who have done well in their GTS Aston but they are not Rob Bell or Darren Turner! |

the Super GT class looks really strong.
in my opinion, this year the winner of Super GT class should get a 2011 LM24 automatically entry after the FIA GT2 canceled.but this couldn't happen yet.Maybe the overall winner of 24h Spa could get one. |

I noticed that the Valencia round has GT4 cars (GTLite) entered from the Spanish GT Series. I was wondering if there has been any mention of Euro GTOpen adding a GT4 type class to the full schedule in the future. Euro GT offers much better events/tracks than FIA GT4.

Funnily enough, a GT3 Ferrari 430 managed to get pole for the 1st race at Valencia. Qualifying was wet so maybe that had something to do with it.
http://www.gtsport.es/index.asp?pagi...c=337&race=336 They go on to say the wet track plus the lack of any handicaps/restrictions helped create this situation. None of the top drivers seemed to take part in the qualifying: #8 AF Corse with Barba was 7th (no Kaffer); IMSA with Narac was 10th (no Pilet) and #2 Autorlando with Roda was 20th (no Lietz). The GT3 Ferrari that won pole also has Stephane Ortelli driving. |

I'm guessing that this was qualifying for the first race? I think when they do separate qualifying for the two races, the top drivers are usually seeded against each other in one of the sessions, right?
Dayraut is also pretty quick - he was typically the top-seeded driver in the Corvettes he raced in FFSA-GT for DKR. |

It was qualifying for the first race, yup.
I checked the Sporting Regs roughly and only found a reference that each driver only participates in one of the qualifying sessions, but couldn't find any criterias for selection. You're right about Dayraut. I saw another article on the site also mentioning he won French Supertouring in 2001. Race 1 was today apparently: http://www.gtsport.es/index.asp?pagi...c=337&race=336 Barba and Kaffer won in the Ferrari. They beat out a Spanish GT Portuguese pairing driving a Ferrari. Ferrari 1-2-3, with the best Porsche in 4th with Roda and Lietz. Pole car of Dayraut and Ortelli dropped to 10th and the IMSA Porsche retired 4 laps in. Poor start for CRS. They were off the pace in qualifying and in the race. Wonder what's up with them. |

Some of the issues for CRS may be down to never having run Dunlops before as far as I am aware. Have they tested much or at all for GT Open in the off-season?

Their site says they tested at Nurburgring and Barcelona in March. Also says the car has slightly different specs than the LMS car but no details.
And perhaps it might be related to the Dunlops they use on the car compared to the much tested Michelins in LMS. |

Ok, watching the review on MotorsTV and the 91 CRS of Chris Niarchos had a big shunt right at the beginning and retired from the race. Them and the #6 AF Corse Ferrari 'kissed" each other.
Let's see if they'll show what happened to IMSA who still appear on screen..... IMSA went off on the last corner into the gravel, and looked like it never came back. GT3 Porsches and Ferraris were up at the top with the GT2 Ferraris and Porsche. Quite strange. |

And Barba and Kaffer won it again.
The Porsches were only there during the first half when Lietz and Pilet were driving against Kaffer but Narac and Roda were no match for Barba. Even in the first part, Pilet and Lietz couldn't get away from Kaffer. http://www.gtsport.es/index.asp?pagi...ina=4658&c=337 A late push by Portuguese driver Álvaro Parente in a Ferrari made Barba sweat but they were penalized for not abiding by the handicap waiting period during the pitstop. It seems that based on the result of the first race, cars have to wait an extra time period (seconds) in the pits after refueling, tyres, driver change, to level competition. So, instead of applying weight penalties, GT Open, makes them wait in the pits. Interesting concept. Nice racing, too bad not that many cars. I actually prefer when they have all classes at once. Race 2, at least at Valencia, had the Super GTs (GT2) in one race, and the rest in a separate race. |

That is exactly how GT Open functions. DSC had an interview with Matt Griffin where he pointed out how that made the series better for all drivers but particularly for gentlemen; adding weight changes the entire feel of the car and even pros have to adjust their style whereas this lets an amateur familiarize themselves with a consistent car over the course of the season.
Barba and Kaffer are probably the best driver lineup in the field; Barba wasn't too shabby as an open-wheel driver and was the fast man in AF Corse's 2nd car in FIA last year. Kaffer needs no introduction. |

Results from Qualifying at the Nürburgring
12 cars each in the two classes - not as impressive as I thought it would be... |
