Holly Thread Revival Batman

so now TKR will be TKRDBAA (Team Kiwi Racing Driven By An Aussie)

http://www.speedcafe.com/2013/01/30/...i-racing-ride/

How does TKR "tick all the boxes"? Couldn't have been many boxes?
"Do they have a car?" Tick!
"Where do i sign?"

Fair dues because he occasionally honours his commitments? Really?

Most of us rank-and-file earn our dues by honouring ALL our commitments ALL the time, NOT when it suits us. And if we're running a business, which he is, that includes honouring ALL financial commitments!

You're being a bit soft on him harcey.

so, did Shae pinch his parents chequebook to ensure any deal actually happens??

history will record DJ's cheques have silicone implants, and bounce back from the bank, leaving the driver to fund the last few rounds himself.

So the TKR Richie Stanaway comeback didnt even make it to the track. Stanaway the not "the 2009 Toyota Racing Series Champion" as quoted in official press releases seems to have had his first and last brush with Mr John. Word from AU he either didnt pay for the lease of the car or the Insurance of the car. Any confirmation of either from out there?

You can insure leased racecars? More details please... I'd be all over that for entry into V8 Utes or similar.

That's what most of the race car insurance is on langers. You do have to understand its not for minor crashes but does sort the majors out. Just be careful which company you pick.

Race car insurance on leased cars is quite common,

I know some of the TRS cars were,
and wouldn't surprise me if 100% of the field had insurance,

but the excess and premiums on them per round is more than it costs for me to do a years racing.

Well it was for all the best anyway as Richie seems to be on to bigger and better things, namely Porsche Supercup with gun French team DAMS.

Not sure how many saw it, but both TKR and Davies issued their own 'statements' on the matter of Davies' premature ejaculation from the seat. First, TKR:

PRESS RELEASE
9TH JULY 2013.

TEAM KIWI RACING ANNOUNCEMENT.

Team Kiwi Racing Owner, David John, has today confirmed his team is currently in discussions with a number of drivers to see who will be behind the wheel of the TKR Porsche for the final three rounds of the Australian 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship.

Despite TKR having an exclusive contract with Shae Davies Racing / Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Construction, for Shae Davies to represent TKR on its behalf until January 2014, Team Kiwi Racing were notified unexpectedly on 4 July 2013 (24 hours before the Townsville round of the 2013 Championship) by Shae Davies Racing / Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Constructions legal representative, that Shae Davies Racing / Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Construction would be formally terminating the contract with Team Kiwi Racing.

“Obviously the actions by Shae Davies Racing / Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Properties is most disappointing to Team Kiwi Racing and its sponsors given that Team Kiwi Racing had provided Shae Davies with a subsidized drive so he could afford to be involved in the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship in the first place, while also providing Shae Davies with a strong well maintained racecar all season which has seen Davies hold down a solid 5th position to date while contracted to TKR.

Further surprising is that Davies made the decisions he has only hours before the Townsville meeting which is the following round after the recent Rennsport round of the 2013 Porsche Carrera Cup Championship where Shae Davies had just combined with Adam Gowans in the TKR car to win the Pro Driver class at the Porsche Rennsport Australia Motor Racing Festival of speed to secure Davies his first ever Porsche Carrera Cup Australian win”. Said Team Owner David John.

Unfortunately, given the late notice provided by Shae Davies Racing / Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Construction and circumstances beyond TKR’s control, Team Kiwi Racing did not have sufficient time (less than 24 hours) to arrange an alternative driver in time for Round 4 of the Porsche Carrera Cup in Townsville which commenced on 5 July 2013.

“No further comment can be provided with respect to the contractual issues between Team Kiwi Racing and Shae Davies Racing/Drawbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Construction as they are now being dealt with by our solicitors.

Whilst the late notice by Shae Davies Racing / Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd trading as Davbridge Construction (less than 24 hours before the Townsville round started) and therefore the inability for TKR to race in Townsville was disappointing and subsequently such actions have destroyed any chance of a top 5 position finish for TKR in 2013 after such a promising start to the season, Team Kiwi Racing is making all endeavors to arrange a replacement driver as a matter of urgency and in time for the next round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship at the Winton Raceway.

Team Kiwi Racing takes this opportunity to thank its sponsors and fans for their patience, understanding and ongoing support.” said Team Kiwi Owner, David John

Then Davies, two days later:

PRESS RELEASE

11th JULY, 2013

Shae Davies Racing/Davbridge Properties Pty Ltd and Shae Davies advise that it has come to their attention that Team Kiwi Racing made a press release on 9 July 2013 concerning the contractual relationships between us and them.

We feel that it is appropriate to respond however we do not intend to enter into an extensive debate.

Simply put an Agreement existed between us and Team Kiwi Racing. We abided by all of the terms of that Agreement whereas, to the contrary, Team Kiwi Racing was in substantial default throughout the term of the Agreement. Without any obligation to do so we attempted to assist Team Kiwi Racing in honouring its obligations to us. Nontheless Team Kiwi Racing was not willing to honour its obligations thereby prejudicing our position. Accordingly, as was our right, we terminated the Agreement on 2nd day of July2013. It should be noted that this was not on 4 July 2013 as claimed by Team Kiwi Racing.

In addition any suggestion by Team Kiwi Racing that such termination was unexpected is totally without basis.

The matter will be finalised by our legal advisors and we do not propose to comment further other than to say that we have acted in total good faith with Team Kiwi Racing at all times.

END

Womder if the Davies family expected a rebate on their next payment to TKR for some of the additional spend they were said to have incurred in order to make sure the car showed up at the next race meeting?

Presumably Mr Gowans is now covering those costs?

Where is that car prepped? Melbourne? If so, how close to Townsville did the car get? If it hadn't left ML then you would expect it could be confirmed they knew before the 4th given its a 20 hr at least drive to TL.

From Melbourne - more like a 36 hour plus drive (not including any rests or stops). Melbourne - Brisbane is 20 hours.

Other than that you're probably on the money there Axeman.

Funny how there seems to be this echo around TKR that pops up pretty regularly - pretty similar disagreements with pilots / sponsors.

You're right, but the best con-men in the world are very believable!. There are all sorts of carrots offered, in a believable way. But then you get the "could you put these parts on your credit card and I'll give you cash at the track. If you can't help, that's OK, but the car might not be ready in time for the next meeting". So you stump up because you want, no HAVE to be at the next meeting, and then you are at the top of a very slippery slope...
