There have been a few mentions in recent times about Mercedes and the new Concorde Agreement. Today Nick Fry was talking about their talks on the subject and how one would imagine CVC would want MNercedes on board when selling shares in F1.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/99481 One potential stumbleing block is Mercedes not being offered a seat on F1's board like most of the other top teams as outlined by Pitpass. http://www.pitpass.com/46226-Specula...ounds-Mercedes Their is some background of Mercedes history in top level motorsport that goes back a lot further than Ferrari from Jose Saward. http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/...rcedes-and-f1/ This one looks like backing Bernie into a corner with he and CVC with most to lose if Mercedes are not signed up as it is not only the team involved but there is also an engine supply to others as well. It will be interesting who wins in the end. |

It is. And it's also one of the reasons why we are unlikely to see other manufacturers, that don't have any or have very little racing heritage in F1, bothering to get themselves into the same position that Mercedes have.

Yes, and don't forget Ferrari in the plot.

It appears that Mercedes might now get a seat on the board of F1. Bernie has been talking to Dieter Zetsche ( Chairman of Daimler) in Barcelona and it seems some progress has been made to get Mercedes to sign.
It is in Bernie's interest to get Mercedes on board especially if they were use their threat of an investigation into unfair competition even if unfounded it could hold up the process of floating F1 for a long time. http://www.pitpass.com/46322-Exclusi...-F1-board-seat I wonder what the remaining teams can do to get themselves a better deal after all seven teams reresent a significant part of the grid and cannot be replaced at a moments notice. |

It looks like the GP promoters are joining up to form a new association called the Formula One Promoters Association with a view to getting on the F1 commision and looking after their interests.
http://www.pitpass.com/46466-The-For...iation-is-born It will be interesting where it leads as it has some powerfull potential. |

I'm worried that these associations seem to be formed to get as much pie as they can from the others, rather than to cook more pie.

Seems to me that they are only really concerned about making a noise. Or, to be more accurate, about making a noise about the noise being made.

If you want to know where F1's revenue comes from and where it gets spent take a look at this.

Big money goes around the world.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEbRFc8O0QA When you have the likes of SFW making noises about F1 not needing cost controls (that's a bit of a U-turn to say the least), then you do have to wonder exactly what planet it is that they are living on. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/100750 |

According to Bernie the concorde agreememt is sorted and just needs the Lawyers to go through the details. This must mean that Mercedes is on board.

I thought we had a new concorde agreement but it appears to be taking a long time. If this article (http://plus.autosport.com/premium/fe...mula-1-future/ ) is anything to go by then there is alot of things to be sorted.
Among the thoings disccussed for those who don't have access is CVC's financial difficulties, the power vacum in F1 created by FOM, FIA and the teams with nobody in total control. |

It seems Williams got 25 million reasons to sign the new concorde agreement.
http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/...eal-with-mr-e/ Wonder how much the others are getting give Mr E's love of divide and rule? |

If you want a tax inspection you must have time to burn!
Do you know how much time and effort and resources a tax audit takes? Just institute "claimer rules" and a price on every bit of the car! Far cheaper and easier to control. Front wing $ 50 000, rear wing $ 30 000, wheel and upright $ 20 000 etc. That should stop the nonsense! |
